Tokyo Disney Ride Heights (2026): Full Guide and Free Printable Chart for Families

Planning a family trip to Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea and wondering whether your kids are tall enough for the rides? You are not alone! Tokyo Disney Ride heights are one of the first things we checked before visiting the park!

Our 9 year old is small for his age, and he was just 6 when we made our first trip to Japan and the Tokyo Disney Resort parks. He loved roller coasters and is an adventurous little guy, so we were so worried he wouldn’t be able to get on the rides he was so excited to experience. So checking out the Tokyo Disney ride heights was essential for our trip.

That’s what gave me the idea to write this piece! One of the biggest questions parents ask is:

👉 “What are the ride heights for Tokyo Disney?”
👉 “Is my child tall enough for the rides?”
👉 “Where can I find an easy Tokyo Disney height chart?”

Why Height Requirements Matter at Tokyo Disney

Tokyo Disney has some of the most immersive, beautifully themed rides in the world. And the good news is that the vast majority of these rides have no height limit at all. As long as your child can sit in an upright position and hold their head upright, they should be able to ride almost all of the family rides in the park. This includes:
• Pooh’s Hunny Hunt
• It’s a Small World
• Castle Carrousel
• Mickey’s PhilharMagic
• Jungle Cruise
• Pirates of the Caribbean.

But for those bigger rides? safety always comes first. Height restrictions ensure the restraint systems fit correctly so kids can ride safely and comfortably. So even though it can be SO TEMPTING to try and sneak a smaller child onto a ride they’re not tall enough for, I really recommend that you don’t.

If you’re travelling with younger children, knowing the minimum heights ahead of time if one of the most useful things you can do for your kids and for your itinerary too. It will help you:

  • Plan your day
  • Prioritise the right attractions
  • Avoid meltdowns (we’ve all been there!)
  • Make a plan for rider swap (if you’re travelling with more than one adult and you still want to ride those bigger rides)
  • Reduce queue stress

Now we’ve covered the why of it all, let’s break down all height requirements for Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea for 2025.

Tips for Parents (From Our Own Tokyo Disney Trips)

We’re big fans of Tokyo Disney and we’ve spent a lot of time in the parks. Which means we’ve also dealt with the meltdowns when the boys couldn’t ride what they wanted, and when height restrictions got the better of them. Something that we can’t change, but we can help to control. Here’s what we’ve learned over multiple family visits:

✔ Measure your kids before you go

Use a flat wall and measure your kids barefoot. The ride measurement sticks are very strict ( actually think they’re a couple of cm out) so if your kid is on the cusp of being tall enough, suggest they’re not tall enough to avoid disappointment on the day (while hoping they’ll get on the ride!)

✔ Kids must meet the requirement with shoes on, but Cast Members occasionally measure without shoes

So aim for at least 2cms above the restriction to avoid disappointment.

✔ Use rider swap for the big attractions

This is a lifesaver if one child is too small for the ride but the other isn’t. This happens to us ALOT (we have one kid whose tall for his age and one whose small for his age). And the kid who doesn’t get to ride? Well he gets to ‘sneak off’ with the switching parent to choose a snack or treat, so everyone’s happy!

✔ Download the official Tokyo Disney Resort app

Height requirements are listed under each attraction as well as live wait times, and it’s a great tool for using in the park.

Should You Visit Disneyland or DisneySea If Your Child Is Under 102cm?

YES! You absolutely shouldn’t be letting the height restrictions on a few of the rides put you off visiting the whole resort.

If you’re travelling with toddlers or small children under 4 years old, Tokyo Disneyland is the better first choice because nearly all attractions are suitable for all heights, and there is more for preschoolers. But I love both parks for kids of all ages. DisneySea still has tons to do, but it’s worth noting that slightly more attractions here require 102–117 cm.

Booking Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea Tickets

Tokyo Disney prices are incredible affordable. In fact, Tokyo Disney prices are the cheapest of any Disney park in the world! (I’ve even spoken to people from America who travelled to Tokyo to take their kids to Disneyland because they said it was cheaper than booking a Disney World vacation!)

There are lots of options available when booking your tickets to Tokyo Disneyland for 2025. You can book your tickets directly via the official Tokyo Disneyland site (link here) you can buy your tickets in person when you arrive in Japan, or you can use a third-party site such as Klook.

We choose to book our tickets via Klook for all of our trips because:

  • You can save a couple of quid using my discount code, THATMUMTRAVEL5KLOOK
  • They are English-friendly. You can set the language of the Klook website to whatever works best for you (English for me!)
  • It’s easy to pay using a foreign credit card (something I often find a stumbling block when using Japanese websites)
  • You get instant tickets that you can use straight from your phone.

FAQ: Tokyo Disney Ride Heights (2025)

Are Tokyo Disney ride heights measured in cm or inches?

The parks use centimetres, but my printable includes both the original cm and inch conversions, so it can be used by both my British and American friends!

Do kids need to wear their shoes for height checks at Tokyo Disney?

I’ve read reports online that Cast Members often measure without shoes, but this varies. We’ve never actually had our kids measured with their shoes off, only with their shoes on so far. But I think it’s best to always assume barefoot height to be safe.

Do ride heights ever change?

Very occasionally. The printable is updated to December 2025, but always check the official app on the day if there’s a ride your child particularly doesn’t want to miss.

Are the rides at Tokyo Disney Plus Size Friendly?

I wear a UK size 16, and am much bigger than the average Japanese woman (at 5ft6, I’m taller than many of the men). I have never had a problem fitting into any of the Tokyo Disney rides: the seats seem the same as the Disney Parks in France, and seem to be built with Western frames in mind. I have spoken to women wearing size 18 or size 24, and they have also been able to ride everything they wanted to.

Is Tokyo Disney Suitable For a 2 year old?

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are both great parks for toddlers, including 2 year olds. They both feature toddler-friendly play areas, characters to meet, rides without height limits, and are a sensory delight, even when watching the world of Disney go by from your push chair! We started taking our boys to Disney parks from their toddler years (and younger) and they have loved the experience since their very first visit.

How many days do you need at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea?

This depends on the age of your children, whether you’re passionate about Disney or theme parks, and how long you have to spend in Japan. I have written a comprehensive answer to this qustion, which you can read here.

Final Thoughts on Tokyo Disney Ride Heights

Tokyo Disney Resort is one of the most magical places in the world for families and kids of all ages (including 40 year old kids like me!) I think knowing the ride heights in advance is one of the things you can do as a parent to make your visit so much easier. Whether you’re visiting Tokyo Disneyland with toddlers or heading to DisneySea with thrill-seeking tweens, this guide and downloadable chart will help you plan confidently, avoiding any disappointment on the day.

If you found this helpful, don’t forget to grab the printable and share it with another family planning a trip to Japan! And I’d love it if you could leave a comment with your thoughts below too!
