Comparing Tokyo, Paris, and Orlando as a travelling family who love Disney! Here’s our definitive answer to the question: Which is the best Disney Park in the world?
For Disney lovers, choosing which park to visit next can feel like an impossible decision. There are six Disney resorts across the world (Tokyo, Paris, Orlando, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Anaheim (California) if you’re not familiar!) and each promises its own unique brand of Disney magic. But which Disney park is really the best? As a travelling family who loves visiting the Disney parks around the world, I’m going to give you my opinion and break it down!
I dream of one day visiting every Disney park in the world. So far, I’ve visited the Disney parks in Tokyo, Paris, California and Orlando multiple times, and for the purpose of this piece, I’ve done my homework on the other two Disney Parks, so that we can finally answer the all-important question. Which is the best Disney Park in the world?

Tokyo Disney Resort – The Best in the World (in our opinion!)
I write about Japan on this site A LOT, and it’s my favourite place in the world, but that’s not why I think Tokyo Disney Resort is the best Disney Park in the world. You’ve never seen a theme park (or pair of theme parks) quite like this and I can say with confidence that if you only ever visit one Disney resort in your life, make it Tokyo Disney Resort.
You might not realise that Tokyo Disney Resort is home to two incredible parks and you should allocate at least two days to resort so you can visit them both. The two parks are:
- Tokyo Disneyland, which is what I can a traditional ‘castle park’. It blends the best of the US and Paris parks but with its own charming touches, and rides that you won’t find in any other park in the world.

Yup, I went out and said it! Each area of the park is a sea port, with ports based on Venice and San Francisco in particular standing out from the crowd.

So why do we love the Tokyo Disney Resort so much? Because everything at Tokyo Disney is done with next-level attention to detail: it feels like the imagineers were given an unlimited budget when designing the parks! From the outstanding architecture to the next-level ride experiences, there’s nowhere quite like it. Even the food, with its perfect theming and the dozens of themed popcorn flavours in dozens of unique themed popcorn buckets is unlike anywhere else in the world.
The Cast Members in this park are endlessly kind (even with the language barrier), and while the queues are long they’re efficient. It’s also worth noting that you don’t need to remortgage your house to enjoy a few days here: this is the cheapest Disney park in the world too!

🌹Disneyland Paris – The Prettiest Castle (and Closest for UK Families)
Disneyland Paris is our home park, and because it’s so close it’s the one we’ve visited the post. Disneyland Paris has a special kind of charm that other reviews often ignore. Yes, it’s compact (but that can be a benefit for families with young kids), its been beautifully designed, and has what I think is the most stunning castle of all: Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant.
As well as being the prettiest castle, this one stands out because it comes complete with a resident dragon beneath. It’s the only park that has that, and we love it (although the boys were terrified of it when they were toddlers).
Disneyland Paris is smaller than the other resorts, so you can do it in a couple of days, but that also means fewer rides and slightly less atmosphere compared with the American or Japanese parks. It also means the crowd levels during peak period can be tricky to manage. Still, it’s unbeatable for European families wanting a dose of Disney magic without a long-haul flight, and it’s the only park you can visit from the UK for a weekend and still be back in the office on Monday morning!

- Easy access from the UK by train or short flight
- Manageable sized parks, especially for younger kids
- The new expansion to the Studios park in Spring 2026 will see a whole Frozen Kingdom added, and it looks exceptional!

☀ Walt Disney World Orlando – The Biggest (and Most Overwhelming)
When most people think of a Disney Park, they think of Walt Disney World in Orlando. Orlando’s Walt Disney World is the most famous Disney resort, and it’s undeniably impressive. You can spend weeks here and not see everything thanks to its four parks, two water parks, and a never-ending list of hotels and dining options. If you want to immerse yourself in all things Disney for as long as possible, this is the park to choose.
But here’s the thing: while I love certain parts (EPCOT’s world showcase or Animal Kingdom’s theming for example) and think every family should visit Walt Disney World Orlando at least once in their lifetime, I also think that the sheer cost and crowd levels make it a tough experience for families these days.
Especially families that aren’t big planners and like to go with the flow! Genie+, Lightning Lanes, and advance dining reservations can make it feel like you’re planning a military operation just to get on a few rides.
Why it’s still worth it:
- A huge variety of parks and experiences: This is the biggest Disney resort in the world
- It has iconic attractions you can’t find anywhere else like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Avatar: Flight of Passage
- This is the perfect resort for hardcore Disney fans
Mum tip: If Orlando is on your bucket list, but you don’t want to break the bank, buy a 2 or 3 day pass and then explore some of the other (much more affordable parks and attractions in the area too) The tickets are the most expensive part of an Orlando holiday, so cutting down on these is the best way to save.

Disneyland California: The Original and Best!
It has been many years since I visited Disneyland California (and only for a flying visit of a day trip) but my overarching memory is that it really was the happiest place in the world! This is the original Disneyland Park, having been created and designed by Walt Disney himself. That only enhances its magic, particularly if you’re already a Disney fan.
You’ll find unique attractions and lands here, as well as the old classics that have been replicated in the parks all over the world. The park is one of the smallest on the list, as is the castle, but it has such a high density of attractions that you definitely won’t be able to see and experience everything in just one day.
The Disney Parks We Haven’t Visited (Yet!)
There are still two parks on our Disney wish list. I would love to visit all of them, but the budget just hasn’t allowed that yet. Ironic, given that I lived in China! The other two Disney parks are:
- Hong Kong Disneyland – This park has been recently revamped with new attractions and the “World of Frozen” showing just how big and popular that movie is worldwide.
- Shanghai Disneyland – This is the next park on my personal hit list. It’s home to the biggest castle and the incredible TRON coaster, but what I really want to see is the Zootopia area of the park. This is the only Disneyland to have this feature, so far!
So, Which Is the Best Disney Park in the World?
For us, the clear winner is Tokyo Disney Resort. It’s not just an exceptional Disney resort but an excellent pair of theme parks in its own right. The Tokyo Disney Resort combines the nostalgia and charm of classic Disney with the imagination and detail that only Japan can deliver. It’s friendly, affordable, and just feels magical from the moment you walk in. That affordability is definitely a factor too – we’re budget travellers, so the fact that you can visit this Disney Park for the same price as a day to a local theme park at home is a huge asset to us!

It’s not just my opinion, but a widely held opinion, that Tokyo Disney Sea is the best Disney park in the world. It boasts beautiful, fully-immersive theming and unique rides that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. It’s water way environment creates a calm and tranquil environment.
Which is the Biggest Disney Park in The World?
This might come as a surprise, but Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World Florida is the largest Disney theme park in the world. Because of the sheer volume of animals in the park, and the space that they need, the park covers a whopping 500 acres. That means that it’s four times larger than Magic Kingdom.
It’s worth noting that all four of the Florida Disney Parks are the largest in the world, each individually covering more ground than any of the international Disney Parks.
Which is the Cheapest Disney Park In The World?
In terms of ticket prices, Shanghai Disney resort is the cheapest, with adult tickets costing around $61 pe person. This is followed by Tokyo Disney Resort, where adult tickets cost between $60-$77 per person. These Asian Disney parks operate dynamic pricing, so you’re likely to find that the tickets are cheaper on weekdays and during school term time than they are on weekends and public holidays.
