Magellan’s Tokyo Disney Review: Is The Best Restaurant at Tokyo DisneySea Worth It?
When we planned our latest trip to Japan, there was one Tokyo DisneySea experience I was especially excited for: finally eating at Magellan’s. This is the most popular Tokyo Disney restaurant, so getting a reservation can be tricky, but we finally had one, and I can’t explain how excited I was!
Often described as the best restaurant at Tokyo DisneySea, and regularly featured as one of the best Disney restaurants in the world, my expectations were high. But I also had trepidations: With two boys in tow that would probably prefer a burger, what would they think of the food?

So, was Magellan’s Tokyo Disney really worth the hype?
After finally dining there as a family of four, here’s our honest review. Including what we ate, what surprised us, and whether i’d book it again.

Quick Answer: Is Magellan’s Worth It?
We loved our visit to Magellan’s. It’s well worth it if you want a memorable, premium dining experience during your Tokyo Disney trip.
The Magellan’s restaurant setting itself is beautiful and immersive. It felt special before we’d even sat down. The service was wonderfully attentive and the food was delicious.
But if your priority is maximising rides or sticking to a tighter budget, taking time out to dine in Magellan’s might feel time consuming and expensive.
Final Verdict: If it’s in your budget, Magellan’s is absolutely worth during once.

What Is Magellan’s At Tokyo DisneySea?
If you’re not already familiar, Magellan’s is a table service restaurant inside the Tokyo DisneySea park, and located in the Mediterranean Harbour area, right underneath the volcano.
The restaurant serves high end European dishes and is themed around exploration and discovery. It has a stunning central dome with a huge globe as its focal point, and the interiors are beautfully detailed. The whole place is designed to replicated the headquarters of an old-world explorers society.
Magellan’s feels far more luxurious than a typical these park restaurant, and that’s a huge part of what makes it so unique and so special.

Our Experience Dining at Magellan’s Tokyo Disney
I was gifted our trip to Magellan’s as a Christmas present, so it was a really special and much-anticipated experience for us during our day at Tokyo DisneySea.
Our first impression of the restaurant? Wow! The staff greeted us at the door and led us straight in, giving us time to stop at the central dome area and take photos. Walking into the central dining room felt like stepping into another world. It was hard to imagine we were still in a theme park, and not in a high-end London hotel!
We found that Magellan’s was much quieter than the rest of the park, and it felt surprisingly formal for a Disney restaurant. That lended the whole thing a real sense of occasion. But despite the quiet and formality, the kids were still made very welcome, and there were other children in the restaurant too, which put me at ease.

What We Ordered at Magellan’s
Our youngest ordered from the children’s menu, while the rest of us ordered the Magellan 3 course set menu, which is priced at 8,000 yen.
This is made up of one starter, soup or fish dish, one entree, and one dessert. Bread (either Boule or Walnut) and your choice of coffee or tea are served with this course. Pick the walnut bread! We all loved it so much we were at risk of filling up on rolls!
I ordered:
- Appetizer: Tuna and Smoked Salmon Ceviche with Hazelnuts
- Second course: Today’s fish (this was salmon when we visited)
- Main course: Basil-Crusted Chicken with Madeira Sauce served with Almond Dukkah
- Dessert: Praline Chocolate Cake with Orange Compote and Lemon Sherbet

Mike ordered:
- Appetizer: Lightly Roasted Berkshire Pork with Duck Rillettes, Cheese and Nuts Terrine
- Second course: Soy Milk-Pumpkin Soup with Coconut and Basil Accent
- Main course: Grilled Beef Loin with Madeira Sauce served with Almond Dukkah
- Dessert: Cremet dAnjou

We have dined in several Michelin-starred restaurants, and although not Michelin-star quality, the food was pretty close! The flavour balance was excellent, and it was so well presented.

Is Magellan’s Good For Kids?
Magellan’s actually worked better for our kids than I expected. My boys are 10 and just turned 13. They really liked:
- The dramatic setting
- The novelty of the experience
- Having a proper sit-down break from the rest of the park
The oldest ate from the adults menu, but the youngest ordered a ‘Little Explorers’ set. Still high-end dishes, but a little more child-friendly, this set menu is suitable for kids up the age of 12. And priced at 3,300 yen.
It was made up of Soy Milk-Pumpkin Soup to start, followed by Sauteed Beef, Pan-Fried Fish with Tomato Sauce, Carrot, French Fries, Broccoli, Baby Corn, and a Portabella Mushroom for the main course. It was served with rice bread and then a dessert of Soy Milk Pudding Tart and Fresh Fruit. The set menu also came with a choice of Orange Juice or Apple Juice.
There was plenty of food for him, and so many ‘picky bits’ on the plate that he had a lot to choose from. I think it worked really well, and he ended up clearing his plate!

How Much Does Magellan’s Cost?
Magellan’s is one of the most expensive restaurants at Tokyo DisneySea and the quality of the food means that it’s worth every penny.
Lunch/dinner set menus for adults are priced at 8,000 yen and for children the ‘Little Explorers’ set menu is 3,300 yen. We didn’t drink wine/alcoholic beverages, which could push the cost up higher, but with a couple of soft drinks each, our total bill came to:
- 31,700 yen
- £148/$199 based on current exchange rates as of May 2026
Is this pricey for Japan? Yes it is. In fact, it’s one of the most expensive meals we paid for during our trip. But if you’re used to the prices in the Disney Parks in Paris or the UK, then this is actually very good value for such a high-end dining experience.
Do You Need A Reservation For Magellan’s?
I strongly recommend getting a reservation for Magellan’s. Magellan’s is popular and reservations can go quickly, all year round. There is no quiet period here! We didn’t get to eat in Magellan’s until our fourth visit to Tokyo DisneySea, because we just couldn’t get a reservation.
Book as early as possible through the Tokyo Disney Resort app or via the official website.

Our Honest Verdict: Is Magellan’s Tokyo Disney Worth It?
For us: Yes. It was a wonderful experience and well worth every penny. Would I eat there every trip? Probably not. Would I book it again for a special visit? Absolutely!
If you want one memorable dining experience in the Tokyo Disney Resort and are wondering whether Magellan’s deserves its reputation as the best restaurant in Tokyo Disney then I’d say yes. It really does!
