Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont Review: Our Honest Experience

Of all the many Eurocamp sites across Europe, perhaps the most famous (and definitely the one people ask about the most) is Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont. We recently spent two nights in the site at the end of our annual summer France road trip so we could visit Disneyland Paris. This was our second visit here, helping us write this comprehensive Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont review.

Although our visit was short this time round, we were genuinely impressed by the facilities (there were even more of them on this visit than on our last visit 10 years ago) and we could easily have spent much longer enjoying everything available at the campsite.

La Croix du Vieux Pont is a large, family-focused holiday park in Berny-Rivière in northern France, and it has a massive Eurocamp presence, but you can book through other holiday park providers too. It’s around 80km from Disneyland Paris (we drove this in around 55 minutes) so it isn’t the closest Eurocamp to Disney, but it can works perfectly if you want to combine a big activity park with a Disney day trip too. That was our main motivation for booking on this trip: we had Disney tickets, and we also wanted to shorten the return leg of our drive back to Calais with a stopover.

We weren’t informed before arrival so I did a little digging and found it will remain closed for the rest of the 2026 season. Check directly with the campsite before booking if this facility is important to your family.

Why We Chose La Croix du Vieux Pont

I’ll be honest, we booked a short two-night stay at La Croix du Vieux Pont before we decided to visit Disneyland Paris. We wanted somewhere a couple of hours away from Calais to break up our journey, while also experiencing one of Eurocamp’s most popular French holiday parks. Then the temptation to visit Disneyland Paris while we were nearby just became too strong to resist!

I will say that everyone talks about La Croix du Vieux Pont as being the Disneyland Paris Eurocamp. BUT La Croix du Vieux Pont is not immediately outside Disneyland Paris. The journey usually takes at least an hour by car, so I wouldn’t necessarily choose it if your entire holiday is focused on being at Disney. One day at Disney as part of a week-long wider adventure? Perfect! Three or four Disney days? I recommend staying much closer!

Our biggest regret was that two nights just didn’t give us enough time to properly explore everything at the campsite properly. It’s just so big, with so many cool facilities for kids! I actually think the campsite has enough going on to be a holiday destination in its own right, rather than simply somewhere to sleep before visiting Disney. You could spend a whole week here without leaving the site at all!

The Swimming Pools at La Croix du Vieux Pont

If you’ve read our reviews before, you’ll know the first thing my boys wanted to do when we arrived was the run straight to the pools. And it turned out, the swimming facilities were one of the highlights of our stay. It’s just such a lovely pool complex with kids splash area, outside lazy river, and three different slides.

The indoor pool was lovely and warm (the sign said it was heated to 27 degrees) which made a huge difference during our visit, because we were there for a colder stay at the end of August. It meant the boys could enjoy swimming even when it started raining outside and we didn’t have that horrible moment where Mike and I just really didn’t want to jump into the freezing water!

It is worth noting that the pool complex has indoor and outdoor swimming areas, and this would be so much fun on a blazing hot summers day. But in our experience, and on our cooler visit, the outdoor river rapids were a slightly different experience. They looked brilliant, but the water wasn’t heated and it was absolutely freezing! The boys were much braver than I was, and insisted on doing a loop around, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to join them, and their skin felt like ice when we got out.

This is likely to feel very different during a hot summer holiday, so don’t let it put you off, but outside the warmest months, be prepared to stick to the indoor pools for the most comfortable experience!

The Playground

We were also really impressed by the playground at La Croix du Vieux Pont. It was a lovely space and a really good size. It gave the boys somewhere else to burn off some energy away from the swimming pools, and what I really loved was that it was clearly signposted as being suitable for kids aged up to 14. This is huge, because it’s so rare to find play spaces where tweens and teens are actively welcomed.

We’ve been on dozens of Eurocamp holidays, so I can tell you from experience that having good play facilities makes such a difference on this type of holiday, particularly when you have some spare time before dinner or want an easy activity to fill a gap in your day.

The campsite is large, so the exact distance from your accommodation to the playground and other facilities will depend on where your holiday home is located, but we got so lucky, because ours was a short 3-4 minute walk away.

Entertainment And Things To Do At Eurocamp la Croix Du Vieux Pont

Our favourite part of the campsite was probably the lake area. This is a huge boating lake where you can take out pedalos shaped like various animals, set next to a smaller area where you can ride on ‘bumper boats’. Racing each other on these (and then bashing into each other on them!) was the highlight of the day for my boys. Crucially, there is no age or height limit for these.

There are also bungee trampolines here that older kids can enjoy. But other attractions in the lake ara are for younger children, meaning our 13 year old watched his brother enjoy the rest of the activities (something to be aware of if you have a mixed-age family).

These included electric motorbikes, an outdoor soft play area, and bouncy castles. Luckily, Big Explorer was very happy with an ice cream from the food and drink hut that is at the centre of this play area. All of these activities in this area cost extra, so it’s worth factoring in some spending money if you know your kids will want to play when you arrive. As this area is right in the centre of the campsite, it’s pretty hard to avoid!

Other paid-for extras on site that we sadly didn’t have time to explore on this trip include a bowling alley, laser tag arena, zipline and climbing wall. During peak season, there is also nightly entertainment put on by the staff here.

If we returned, I would plan at least one completely unstructured campsite day so we could properly explore the lake, pools and activities without needing to rush anywhere.

NOTE: La Croix du Vieux Pont has a much-loved man made beach and swimming lake, and we spent more time there than anywhere else on our first trip to the site. However, the lake was closed this year due to problems with the water: it’s been closed since April, and it is not due to reopen in the 2026 season. You can however, still play in the sand with buckets and spades.

Food And Drink at La Croix Du Vieux Pont

There is a lovely little bakery on the campsite, which was very convenient for breakfast. And the boys loved all the different flavoured cookies there too!

Being able to pick up fresh bread and pastries without leaving the resort is one of those simple pleasures that we love so much about choosing Eurocamp holidays: I think i’ve mentioned before that we always pack the boys scooters now they’re older, and they love the responsibility of being able to scoot down to get our breakfast every morning.

La Croix du Vieux Pont also has a well-stocked shop selling food, drinks and useful holiday essentials. We grabbed some BBQ meat, a bottle of wine, and some snacks for our Disney day. It’s exactly what you want a campsite shop to be: perfect when we needed a few bits and pieces, or if you suddenly realised you had forgotten something.

However, as you would expect from an on-site convenience shop, the prices were higher than you would usually pay at a larger supermarket. So my advice would be to stop at a bigger and more affordable supermarket (the neaarest one is only 1.5km away) and stock up on your way to the site. You’ll save yourself a fortune!

Although we didn’t try them so I can’t write a comprehensive review, La Croix du Vieux Pont also offers two bars and two restaurants, so there’s no need to cook if you don’t want to.

Booking Eurocamp La Croix Du Vieux Pont

Because La Croix du Vieux Pont is one of Eurocamp’s most popular sites in their French portfolio, it books up fast, especially for peak dates like August and School Holidays. For that reason, for this camp at least, my advice is to book as soon as you know the dates you’d like to travel.

And if you’re on a budget but want to visit in the school summer holidays? My little sneaky tip is to look at the very last week, just before the kids go back to school. Children in France go back to school a few days before ours do, which means prices drop a little in this period: the sites tend to be quieter too! Eurocamp La Croix Du Vieux Pont Review FAQs

Is La Croix du Vieux Pont an Authentic French Experience?

This is something I think is worth mentioning because it may be a factor in whether this is the right campsite for you. We’ve visited so many Eurocamp sites, and we love feeling like we’re immersive ourselves into French summer culture. Often there are only a small number of other British families on the site at any given time. So much so that we check number plates as we’re walking around the site (anything that isn’t French is exciting!)

However that’s not true of La Croix du Vieux Pont, which didn’t feel like an especially authentic French experience during our stay. A huge proportion of the guests on the site were British, and we heard far more English accents than French ones around the resort. I think perhaps because of the sites great reputation, proximity to Disneyland Paris, and easy access to Calais.

I’m saying this as an observation, and it isn’t necessarily a negative. It can make the experience feel very accessible, particularly if this is your first family holiday in France or you are slightly nervous about a language barrier. The campsite is clearly accustomed to welcoming British families: we were greeted in English by every single staff member we met!

However, if your main reason for visiting France is to immerse yourself in French culture, practise the language, or if you want to spend time predominantly among French holidaymakers, this might be something worth considering. It feels much more like a large international family holiday resort located in the French countryside. Whether that is a benefit or a drawback will depend entirely on the type of holiday you want. But it’s something well worth understanding before you book your trip.

Is La Croix du Vieux Pont Good for Disneyland Paris?

We have used La Croix du Vieux Pont as a base for visiting Disneyland Paris twice! So my answer to this has to be yes – but that does come with a caveat. This park isn’t as close to Disneyland Paris as many people imagine, and it’s important to be realistic about the distance.

The drive can take anything between 60–90 minutes, depending on traffic, so you need to be prepared for an early start and a long journey back after a full day in the parks. I would personally consider staying closer to Disneyland if I were planning several consecutive park days.

For one Disney day as part of a longer Eurocamp holiday? Honestly, it’s perfect because the site has so much to offer! Looking for a Disney holiday? Stay closer to Disney! You really wouldn’t want to be doing that commute every day for a week, I know I wouldn’t!

If you don’t feel comfortable driving through the French countryside, La Croix du Vieux Pont now advertises that they offer a direct Disneyland Paris shuttle on selected days, but we haven’t tried that ourselves. I would definitely check with them before you book your trip rather than expecting it to be available, as often these things only happen during peak periods.

Is Two Nights Long Enough At This Campsite?

When we first visited La Croix du Vieux Pont we stayed for 5 nights. This time we only stayed for two. Two nights was enough for our particular itinerary, because it came right at the end of two weeks in France, and was really a buffer to break up the drive home. But it definitely wasn’t really long enough to make the most of the campsite!

Once we had factored in our arrival, departure and Disneyland Paris visit, we only really had two half days left to enjoy all the facilities. We still had a great time, and the boys loved the pools and going on the bumpe boats especially, but there were lots of things we didn’t have time to try.

If your children enjoy swimming, playgrounds and organised activities, I would recommend staying for at least four or five nights. That’s the sweet spot for seeing everything the park has to offer without getting bored, in my opinion. A full week would give you time to enjoy the resort properly as well as fitting in a day trip to Disneyland Paris, exploring central Paris for a day, and checking out some of the other towns and villages in the countryside around the camp. That’s what we’ll be aiming for if we visit again!

Our Verdict: Would We Return to La Croix du Vieux Pont?

We would definitely return to this site again, but if you take anything from this Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont review, let it be to book for longer than we did! Two nights simply isn’t enough!

There was so much to see and do, meaning this would be a great spot for an activity-filled family holiday, and it was also great for that one-day treat to Disneyland. But as i’ve already said, if you want to spend longer exploring Disneyland, look for somewhere to stay that’s closer: you’ll soon get fed up of spending so much time in the car!

Our boys are much older now than they were when we first visited La Croix Du Vieux Pont, and there was definitely more for them to do when they were younger, but I still think this is a good choice for older or mixed age families too.
