Pokémon Center Okinawa: What You Need To Know Before You Visit
If you’re visiting Okinawa with Pokémon fans, the Pokémon Center Okinawa is a fun and easy stop to add to your itinerary. And one of the first things me own boys asked when we landed in Naha was ‘is there a Pokemon Center here?’ do for our family, it was essential!
Located inside the AEON Mall Okinawa Rycom, this tropical-themed Pokémon store is smaller than some of the other flagship Pokémon Centers in Japan, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with a much more relaxed shopping experience, exclusive merchandise and unique Okinawa-inspired displays.

We’ve visited the Pokemon Centers in every Japanese city we’ve visited, but it ended up being one of the easiest and most enjoyable of our Pokémon Center visits on our most recent trip to Japan. Particularly with kids.

Where Is Pokémon Center Okinawa?
Pokémon Center Okinawa is located inside AEON Mall Okinawa Rycom, one of the largest shopping malls in Okinawa.
The mall is situated in central Okinawa, making it a convenient stop whether you are staying in:
- Naha
- American Village
- Onna
- or elsewhere on the main island
Because it’s inside a large shopping centre, it’s easy to combine with lunch or a mini shopping spree, and it’s also a great thing to do on a rainy day (we visited on the day we did because it rained in the morning, then we headed to the coast n the afternoon).
If you’re driving and using a sat nav, the full address is:
Address: 1F, 1 Raikamu, Kitanakagusuku, Nakagami District, Okinawa 901-2306, Japan
Hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily

How To Get To Pokémon Center Okinawa
We visited by car, and honestly this is probably the easiest option for most families visiting Okinawa.
The drive from Naha takes around 40 minutes depending on traffic, and parking at AEON Mall Okinawa Rycom is free and plentiful. We arrived just before the mall opened at 10am, and got parked right by the door, which immediately made the experience much less stressful than navigating crowded city Pokémon Centers on mainland Japan.
Okinawa is much more car-dependent than cities like Tokyo or Osaka, so if you are already renting a car during your trip, adding the Pokémon Center to your route is very straightforward. Check out: Do You Need a Car in Okinawa? Our First Hand Experience and Honest Advice (2026)

If you are not driving, buses also run to the shopping mall from various parts of Okinawa, but this is much trickier and more time-consuming.
What Makes Pokémon Center Okinawa Different?
The biggest reason many Pokémon fans visit Pokémon Center Okinawa is the exclusive Okinawa-themed merchandise.
The store has become especially well known for its Growlithe and Arcanine designs inspired by Okinawa’s traditional shisa guardian lion statues. These Pokemon were chosen as the mascots for the Okinawa Pokemon Center because they look so similar to the shisa.

During our visit we picked up the adorable Pikachu riding Growlithe plushies, which ended up being one of the boys favourite Pokémon souvenirs from Japan. You can also buy male and female Pokemon plushies dressed in traditional Okinawan dress. These came in full sized or keyring sized form.
Stock changes regularly, though, and popular items can sell out quickly.
Is The Pokémon Center Okinawa Worth Visiting?
Yes, I think the Pokemon Center Okinawa is well worth visiting, especially if you are already exploring central Okinawa or travelling with Pokémon-loving children. If you’re not Pokemon fans? I probably wouldn’t go out my way to visit, or spend time in a character shop when you could be on a beautiful beach!

While it’s not one of Japan’s largest Pokémon Centers, the calmer atmosphere, unique local merchandise and convenient location inside AEON Mall make it a really enjoyable stop for families. And there is also a dedicated BookOff card shop in the same mall, so the boys enjoyed card shopping after buying their official Pokemon merchandise too.
For Pokémon fans, I think it’s also one of the best places in Japan to pick up genuinely distinctive regional merchandise rather than standard souvenirs you’ll find everywhere else. So many of the plushies in particular here were wonderfully unique.
