LEGO Festival at LEGOLAND Windsor Review (2026)
Everything you need to know before you visit the LEGO Festival at LEGOLAND Windsor, including the brand new LEGO Pokemon experience, which was the absolute highlight for our family (and will shine for all Pokemon fans!)
Imagine a festival designed just for kids, where the focus is on LEGO play instead of Rock ‘n’ Roll? That’s exactly what you’ll get if you visit the LEGO Festival at LEGOLAND Windsor this summer!
We weren’t expecting the LEGO Festival to be such a big or fun, interactive event, but the reality is that if your kids love building and playing with LEGO, they could spend the whole day moving from zone to zone, and have an amazing LEGOLAND Windsor day out without actually going on a single ride! We combined the two, exploring all of the LEGO Festival play zones, and getting on the boys six favourite rides in the same day.

The Brand New LEGO Pokemon Zone is Worth Visiting On Its Own
The main reason we dropped everything and headed straight down to the LEGO Festival was because of the Pokemon play zone. Our boys LOVE all things Pokemon. They’ve competed in the Pokemon European Championships (EUIC) and we’ve travelled to Japan to explore all the Pokemon attractions in Tokyo.
For us, the highlights of this year’s LEGO Festival is definitely the brand new Pokemon Play Zone. This gives you a tantalising opportunity to see and play with the brand new LEGO Pokemon sets in person before they come out. That alone made it one of the busiest and most popular areas of the festival during our visit!
The experience starts with each child trainer (adults can watch, but this is an experience for kids only!) being ‘chosen’ by their partner Pokemon, then they insert the Smart Brick so that the figure comes to life. At this point, the kids move on to the ‘snack station’ where they build a sandwich for their Pokemon to eat and they have their first interaction with the smart brick. Finally, they move on to the battle arena, where they really get to see what these interactive Pokemon can do!
At the end of this 15-minute Trainer Center session (worth noting the sessions do only last 15 minutes, even if your kids want to keep playing for hours!), you move into a ‘free play’ room where you can build your own LEGO Poke-ball, and you can take a photo with the awesome life-sized LEGO Pikachu.
The whole experience is best suited to primary school children. Our 10 year old LOVED the experience: so did our 13 year old (secretly) but he felt a little awkward about being the tallest in the room!
Tors Tip: This experience is operating a virtual queue via the Legoland app. I’ve added screenshots of how this works below to guide you through. I strongly recommend joining the queue as early as possible after you arrive in the park to avoid missing out, because this is such a popular experience
Our Verdict? If your kids love Pokemon don’t miss this! We actually prioritised this before heading down the hill to the rides, and we definitely don’t regret that decision!
Book Your LEGOLAND Windsor Tickets
The good news is that the LEGO Festival is included with standard park entry, and it genuinely enhances the LEGOLAND Windsor experience during the summer months. But tickets can and DO sell out during the peak summer holiday dates (which is when the LEGO Festival is being hosted)
For that reason, I strongly recommend booking your tickets in advance to get the dates you want as early as possible and avoid disappointment.
What is the LEGO Festival?
Running throughout the summer holidays, the LEGO Festival is a special event that transforms LEGOLAND Windsor into a family-friendly festival celebrating creativity, music and play. It’s actually a wonderfully clever idea, in my opinion, because it means that the extra people that visit Legoland in the summer months have more things to do, so the park never feels too busy or overcrowded.
The event is included with your normal park admission or Merlin annual pass, so there’s no extra charge to take part. Alongside all of the usual rides and attractions, families can explore five themed festival zones packed with shows, building activities and interactive experiences.
The five LEGO Festival zones
1. Pokémon Play Zone (Our favourite!)
New for 2026, this year the Festival Play Zone has been transformed into a LEGO Pokémon Trainer Center. This was the highlight of the day for my boys, and the main reason we chose LEGOLAND Windsor for our ‘treat’ day out this holidays.
You get the chance to:
- Build your own Poké Ball
- Pose for a photo opportunity with LEGO Pikachu
- Preview the brand new LEGO Pokémon sets
- The whole experience takes around 15 minutes
2. F1 Thrill Zone
Mike is a huge F1 fan, so this is the next place we stopped as part of our big festival day out. There are three different activities in this zone, which is located at the bottom of Miniland.
Formula One fans can build and race LEGO F1 cars, complete a pit stop challenge where you have to change the tyres and body pieces on an oversized LEGO racing car, and then watch the energetic Pit Lane Hype show.
The pit stop challenge was great for all ages (even Mike enjoyed getting involved!) and there are plenty of interactive activities and photo opportunities for younger racing fans here too: in my opinion, the shows are aimed at slightly younger kids, but it’s great to see so many shows back in the park and it really did add to the festival atmosphere to see acts, and LEGO characters, taking to the stage.
I know queue times are a real concern for many families, but the beautiful of these festival play zones is that there’s little to no queuing! We went straight to the playzone to build our race cars, and we queued for around 5 minutes to take part in the pit stop challenge in the middle of the afternoon.
3. Music Zone
This lively area features the Battle of the Bands live show, LEGO character meet-and-greets and a giant collaborative LEGO mosaic that children can help build throughout the day.
4. Creative Zone
The Creative Zone encourages children to let their imaginations run wild with hands-on building activities, “Creatureverse creations” and we even managed to catch a live demonstration from LEGOLAND’s Master Model Builders.
This zone was quieter when we arrived here at around 11am, and we had a whole LEGO build table to ourselves. Building together in the sunshine as a family was so lovely, and probably one of my low-key but magical highlights of the day.
If you want to watch a demonstration or show in any of the Festival Zones, you’ll find the schedule in your LEGOLAND Windsor app, and there are also boards with the days show times located outside of each zone, so you shouldn’t miss a thing!
5. Chill Out Zone
Need a break from the excitement? The Chill Out Zone offers a calmer space where children can build LEGO Botanicals: once you’ve built your own flowers, you add them to the flower wall, which only gets more beautiful as the day goes on.
This is also the place where you can enjoy the Playtime with Hopsy show (Hopsy is the LEGO Duplo Bunny) and simply relax before heading back onto the rides. That makes this the best zone for toddlers and pre-schoolers, and there are a lot of them hanging out in this area.
Complete the LEGO Festival challenge
One of our favourite additions to the Festival experience was the festival challenge card. My boys love a challenge, so this worked really we for us. You collect your card from the stand at The Beginning (just past the entrance) at the start of your day, so don’t forget to do this before you go down into the main park.
Children receive a festival activity card and collect stamps as they complete activities across the different zones. Because there are five zones, there are five stamps to collection.
If they can complete three of the five festival challenges and collect at least three of the five stamps, children will be able to collect a free LEGO Festival gift before leaving the park. You collect this from the same Festival stand at The Beginning on your way out, and the boys were gifted cute polybag LEGO cats.
I was really impressed with this: I was expecting the prize to be a sticker or a pop badge. So free LEGO was a real win! And this is a fun way to encourage children to explore more of the festival rather than heading straight from ride to ride too.
LEGO Festival Food and Treats
It wouldn’t be a festival without food and treats, and LEGOLAND Windsor excelled on this front too! You’ll find special festival-inspired dishes in all of the restaurants and food outlets: I took a photo of the festival specials below.
We tried the Jerk chicken pizza at City Walk Pizza and Pasta, and it was one of the most exciting pizza flavours I’ve had for a long time! The boys also tried the Freak Shakes at Wizards Frozen Wonders and said they were “delicious with a twist and the toppings were so thick and creamy”. Having watched them devour these in minutes, I’d say they were highly recommended!

Is the LEGO Festival worth visiting?
We had the best day at the LEGO Festival, and given we visited in a Saturday in the school summer holidays, we couldn’t believe how much we got done?
What impressed us most was that the festival doesn’t replace the normal LEGOLAND experience, it just adds to it. You still have access to all of the rides, miniland and attractions (and we managed to access all of those things too!) but with hours of extra entertainment included in your ticket price too
If your children love LEGO, Pokémon, Formula One or simply enjoy hands-on activities where they get to play with and build LEGO, I definitely recommend planning your visit while the festival is running.
