1. Minifigure Speedway

Minifigure Speedway is one of the newest additions to the Legoland Windsor park and already a family favourite. On our last visit, I was travelling with a 9-year-old and a 10-year-old, and they loved it so much that they rode it again and again. The Minifigure Speedway is a duelling rollercoaster that races forward and then backwards, which is rare for a family park! You’re allocated to one of the two trains: All Stars or Legends, and race to see who will be the winner.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • The backward launch is genuinely thrilling and made my stomach somersault
  • Smooth enough for kids but still exciting for adults. If you’re travelling with teens, this is the ride they’ll love!
  • Feels like a “big theme park” ride

Best for: Confident primary schoolers, teens that are along for the ride, and thrill-seeking parents.

2. Flight of the Sky Lion

Located in LEGO MYTHICA, this flying theatre ride is stunning, and my husband’s favourite ride in the Legoland Park. If you’ve ever been to Disney World, the concept is just the same as Soaring in Epcot. Riders sit suspended in front of a huge dome screen and soar through mythical LEGO worlds.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • Immersive, cinematic experience
  • Air effects and movement make it feel realistic
  • A great option if you don’t love coasters but want the thrill of a family ride

Best for: All ages and anyone who prefers magic over speed. But be warned! The rapid movements can make you feel a little motion sick.

3. LEGO City Deep Sea Adventure

The LEGO City Deep Sea Adventure is less of a ride and more of an immersive underwater experience. It’s also my personal favourite ride in Legoland Windsor. You board a submarine and descend into an underwater world filled with real fish and LEGO treasure. But the real draw are the dozens of black tipped sharks and huge stingrays that you pass: As someone that loves the water, I could ride this all day and just watch the sealife.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • It’s calm but captivating
  • Real sea life makes it feel special
  • It has an interactive treasure hunt element for kids (with voiceovers encouraging kids to look through the windows and hunt for the lost treasure of Atlantis)

Best for: All ages. It’s the perfect mid-day breather ride if you want to sit down and take a break from the more adrenaline-pumping rides in the park.

4. LEGO NINJAGO The Ride

Once upon a time, my boys were obsessed with Lego Ninjago, and we visited Legoland shortly after the Ninjago section opened, just so they could ride this ride. Lego Ninjago the ride is an interactive 4D ride that lets you throw virtual fireballs, lightning and ice using hand gestures. Each player gets a score based on how well they use their ninja skills!

Why it’s brilliant:

  • No controllers, your hands do the work
  • Competitive scoring keeps kids engaged (and who doesn’t love the street cred of beating their mum at a game?)
  • Surprisingly physical: your arms will ache at the end of the ride!

Best for: School-age kids and competitive families.

5. Autumn’s Riding Adventure

When I asked our youngest and his best friend what their best ride at Legoland Windsor was, they couldn’t decide between the Minifigure Raceway and Autumn’s Riding Adventure. This is a fun spinning ride similar to a pirate ship, but one that spins. You mount your plastic Lego stead, and take to the skies! This ride is more thrilling than it looks, and actually made me feel a little dizzy.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • This is a great first “thrill” ride for younger children
  • Not too intense
  • Often shorter queues than the bigger and most well-known attractions

Best for: Primary school aged children looking for a thrill!

6. Driving School

Hitting the driving school is an absolute rite of passage at LEGOLAND Windsor. Kids drive their own electric LEGO car around mini roads, traffic lights and roundabouts, and the course is much bigger than it looks. This is such a favourite for kids!

Why it’s brilliant:

  • Kids get a “driving licence” at the end, but this does incur an extra charge
  • Teaches basic road awareness (although we did watch one kid drive alone a zebra crossing, so the pass rate shouldn’t be as high as it is!)
  • Feels very grown-up

Best for: 6–12 year olds (height restrictions apply and my 13 year old is now too old to ride). This is a ride for kids only!

7. Fire Academy

This one is chaotic in the best way. But because it’s such a low capacity ride the queues are always long, meaning we’ve only riden this once (which is why it doesn’t appear higher on the list). Families work together to power a fire engine down a track, put out a “burning building” and race back.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • Teamwork based
  • Surprisingly competitive
  • A great energy burner

Best for: Families who love interactive rides, and anyone who secretly dreams of being a firefighter.

8. The Dragon

A proper first rollercoaster. In fact, many years ago it was my youngest sons very first rollercoaster ride. It begins with a gentle indoor dark ride through a LEGO castle (packed full of lego builds that are underrated, but so intricate picking up speed outdoors.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • The castle theming is fantastic
  • Great introduction to coasters
  • Not too scary

Best for: Kids ready for their first real coaster.

9. Haunted House Monster Party

This is such a clever ride and one that i’ve ridden a dozen times, but I’m still not sure I understand it! This is a haunted house that feels like it tips upside down, but it’s actually an illusion.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • Unique ride system
  • Fun rather than frightening
  • Great for mixed ages

Best for: Families who want something different without big drops.

10. DUPLO Dino Coaster

If you’re visiting with toddlers, this one is essential. And it’s so popular with toddlers and pre-schoolers that it always has huge lines. It’s gentle, colourful and often their first coaster experience.

Why it’s brilliant:

  • Perfect introduction to rides
  • Manageable queues
  • Big smiles guaranteed

Best for: Preschoolers and nervous riders.

Tips for Riding the Best Attractions at LEGOLAND Windsor

  • Arrive before opening and head straight to either LEGO MYTHICA or Minifigure Speedway as these rides tend to have the longest queue times, so the earlier you can ride these the better.
  • Use the app to monitor queue times. The app is really handy, and updated in real time
  • Consider visiting midweek during term time for the shortest possible wait times. Weekends during term time (especially if the weather isn’t good) are the next best option
  • Bring snacks and plan around peak lunch hours to maximise ride time.

Where To Buy LEGOLAND Windsor Tickets

Buying tickets in advance is always cheaper than paying on the gate. And on the gate tickets aren’t always available, as Legoland is such a popular theme park. For this reason I strongly recommend booking your Legoland Windsor tickets before you arrive.
