Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong Review Is It Worth Staying Here

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong Review: Is It Worth The Money?

When planning our family trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, I knew I wanted us to stay at one of the resort’s official Disney hotels. I figured it would be a splurge, but worth it for the convenience! But what I wasn’t expecting was for it to be quite so affordable. This Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong review covers everything you need to know about this hotel…and honestly, there’s a lot to love!

We booked three nights at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel in October 2026. We paid £568.78 for a Marvel-themed room through Booking.com for our family of four. That’s less than £200 per night. This is the most affordable of the Hong Kong Disney hotels.

Worth noting that we booked and paid for our stay ourselves, so this review is based entirely on our family’s honest experience.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong Review Is It Worth Staying Here

Compared to the prices I’ve looked at/booked at other Disney resorts, I was surprised by how good value it was. But when things are affordable, there’s that little worry that the offer’s too good to be true. Would it actually feel like a Disney hotel, or would we be sacrificing some of the magic to save money? Why was it so cheap?

Turns out, the Disney Hollywood Hotel actually exceeded our expectations. Because, spoiler alert, we absolutely loved the Disney Hollywood Hotel in Hong Kong. The first thing I noticed as soon as we arrived (very late at night!) was the beautiful theming and then thoughout our stay the little touches like the amenities at the swimming pool, complimentary activities and excellent transport connections. We were expecting this hotel to be similar in standard to the value hotels at Disneyland Paris, because it was similar in price. But it more than exceeded our expectations in almost every way.

Ready to find out why? Here’s our honest review of Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong. We cover everything from our Marvel-themed room, the restaurants, swimming pool, free activities and whether we’d recommend staying here with children.

Where Is Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong?

There are three hotels in the Hong Kong Disney Resort. These are Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong, Disney Explorers Lodge, and the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is completely closed (as of 12th October 2026) for a full refurbishment, and it’s expected to remain closed until mid 2027.

The Hollywood Hotel is the best value of the three, but it being a value hotel doesn’t mean you can expect low-quality facilities or service! We’ve stayed in several Disneyland Paris hotels, for example, and I can honestly say that this was better value and service than we’ve received in even the most expensive European option.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is located at Magic Road, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. It is the hotel furthest away from the park, but if you don’t want to get the shuttle bus, you can walk this in aound 20 minutes.

You can see how close the hotels are to each other on the map below:

Our Marvel-Themed Room at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

There are two main themes for the standard rooms at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong. These are Mickey and Friends theme and Marvel theme. We opted for a Marvel theme room. I’ll admit that we didn’t originally choose the Marvel room because we’re enormous Marvel fans (although the boys do enjoy the Marvel films). We booked it because it was cheaper than the Mickey-themed room!

The main Marvel mural in our room at Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

However, the boys ended up absolutely loving the Marvel theming, and it turned out to be a brilliant choice for our family. The huge mural, the ‘Now Showing’ lighting box side table? This was modern, fun, theming showing that you can have a Disney room without it being overwhelming.

Our room had two double beds, which our boys don’t mind at all (and it’s very common for them to have to share a bed, especially in Asian Disney hotel rooms) but worth bearing in mind if your kids don’t like to share a bed. There isn’t an option to book a hotel with three beds in a room in this hotel. Despite this, the room was still spacious and had good storage (including an open wardrobe with room to store all three of our suitcases). We definitely didn’t feel cramped or on top of each other at any point.

There were also some lovely little details that made the room feel special. For example, the complimentary slippers came in both adult and children’s sizes and featured Marvel designs. It’s a small thing, but those thoughtful Disney touches really add to the experience.

We also found discount vouchers for the hotel’s Disney shop and restaurant waiting in our room when we arrived.

In the bathroom, the hairdryer was powerful and not attached to the wall (I hate those built in hairdryers so weak that it takes a month to dry your hair!) and all of the products were high-quality from Rituals that smelt incredible!

If you don’t want the weight of packing all your own toiletries, you’ll find shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the shower area, as well as body lotion and hand wash by the sink.

Where to Book Disney’s Hollywood Hotel For The Best Price

We booked our stay via Booking.com, but before you do the same, I recommend comparing prices across booking platforms. Every saving is extra money to put towards your trip, after all! Some of the best places to compare include:

  • Booking.com This is the platform we used for our own stay
  • Hotels.com Another popular platform that tends to offer the best prices for our U.S. readers
  • Klook.com And if the price is right, you can get a reader exclusive discount with our code THATMUMTRAVEL5KLOOK too

Getting to Hong Kong Disneyland From Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

Getting between the hotel and Hong Kong Disneyland was so easy, and this is actually one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. We knew we wanted to spend two days visiting the park, and we didn’t want to have to travel in and out of central Hong Kong after long park days to do it!

The hotel provides complimentary shuttle buses to the theme park, on either Disney-themed buses or coaches, and these are so regular! We actually missed the bus we were running for one morning, and the next one came in the time it took me to apply sun lotion to the kids!

Once we were on the bus, the journey took approximately five minutes, and buses were frequent enough that they were never crowded during our visit. We didn’t once get on a full bus, or have to wait for another one because the one we wanted was full. After walking 20,000 steps on long, hot, sweaty park days, I can’t tell you what a difference this made! In fact the Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong is worth booking for this perk alone!

And it might be worth considering this a money-saving tip too. There was no complicated journey to navigate, no need to arrange a taxi and no additional transport cost.

We paid £568.78 for our three-night stay, but prices vary depending on your dates. You can check current room rates for Disney’s Hollywood Hotel here.

Booking Hong Kong Disneyland Park Tickets

Hong Kong Disneyland Park tickets aren’t included when you book the hotel directly. But don’t worry, they’re very easy to buy and they’re also considerably more affordble than the park tickets in Paris or in the U.S.

We booked our tickets with Klook, and took advantage of the hefty discount that you get if you book two-day tickets, rather than just one day (This is called the Non Stop Two Day Fun Ticket). We love Klook (and use it for all our Asia theme park tickets) because tickets are delivered via QR code straight to your phone, and you can see prices and pay in your own currency too.

The Swimming Pool: Perfect After a Day at Disneyland

One of our favourite things about staying at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel was the swimming pool. We were in the hotel for 3 nights/4 days, and we went swimming every. single. day without fail. Plus did I mention this hotel is so extra that the pool is actually shaped like a grand piano?

The pool at the Disney Hollywood Hotel in Hong Kong

During our visit, the pool was open from 8am until 10pm, (these are the standard pool opening hours) which made it incredibly convenient to swim before or after long park days…and sometimes both.

Hong Kong was hot and humid during our October trip (something it definitely isn’t in the UK at that time of year, which made the heat even more noticeable)and being able to return to the hotel and cool down in the pool was wonderful. It also meant we didn’t have to choose between making the most of the theme park and enjoying the hotel facilities, because there was time for both.

The hotel branded inflatables at Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

There was also a small Jacuzzi-style pool, which was particularly welcome for tired legs after a full day of walking around the parks. And even a water slide, which was a nice touch, and the boys favourite way to get into the pool every session.

In terms of those practical mum details: The pool was always manned by three life guards. One on either side of the pool, and one at the top of the slide. There was also another cast member at the pool entrance to sign you in (only guests can use the hotel pool, you just have to share your room number) and hand out towels. These are big and fluffy, so no need to bring your own! Another nice touch were the floatie jackets and huge Disney’s Hollywood Hotel-branded pool rings available for kids, and the jug of iced spa water with glasses, so you can help yourself to a drink if swimming is thirsty work!

Around the pool were plenty of high-end loungers and umbrellas if you didn’t want to get your own hair wet. We were pleasantly surprised by how few families were using the pool every time we visited, so it never felt busy and there was always plenty of space (I can’t comment on if it would be the same on a busy summer’s day though!)

  • 1 jaccuzzi spa (with jets for your back and tired legs…would recommend!)
  • 3 lifeguards on duty
  • Fluffy pool towels provided
  • Floatation jackets and floatie rings provided
  • Plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas
  • Moquito repellent and deet-free mosquito repellent for kids provided
  • Spa water with glasses for post-swim hydration
  • Music playing around the pool (often Disney-themed)
  • Toilets and changing rooms

Activities at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

Something we hadn’t anticipated was just how many activities the hotel organised for guests. On check in we were given a printed activity schedule, and there was a programme of activities each day, many of which were completely free. There were also paid-activities, such as cooking or craft sessions: these often took place during the day when we were in the Disney park, so we couldn’t enjoy everything.

What we did try was a self-guided art treasure hunt around the hotel. Little Explorer loves art, and because this was self-guided, we could do it on our own schedule. We fit it in after breakfast and before we headed to the park.

We followed the clues and explored the artwork, and when we’d completed the activity, we headed over to the concierge desk where we were rewarded with Duffy Bear pens. It was such a lovely surprise!

The activity gave us another reason to explore the hotel’s beautiful surroundings, and it was especially nice to find something included in the stay rather than having to pay extra.

Eating at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

There are two restaurants at this hotel, and we tried them both for the purpose of this Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong review. (And let’s be honest, because they both look good!) The two restaurants available are Ink & Plate, which offers buffet-style breakfast, lunches, and dinner. And the Archivist, which is a cocktail and light-meal type bar.

Below I’ve outlined quick reviews of what we ate and where:

Buffet Breakfast at Ink & Plate

We had breakfast at Ink & Plate on one morning of our stay, and the buffet was impressively extensive.

There was a huge choice of both Asian and Western food, making it easy for everyone in the family to find something they enjoyed. The food was hot, constantly being topped up, and there was even a live omelette station (my breakfast weakness!) I will never get used to on breakfast buffets like this is how much non-breakfast food they serve! Pizza? Rice and noodles? I stuck to the croissants, but my boys were definitely making the most of it!

Meeting Goofy at Ink & Paint at Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

And we had an extra-special surprise: we met Goofy! We knew this was a character breakfast, but we didn’t know which character we’d meet (they change from day to day).

Meeting a Disney character over breakfast was fab: we’ve done character breakfasts at other Disney Parks before, and it does make it feel more special BUT it’s worth noting you do only meet one character per day. And we only did this once, as a treat, because this hotel breakfast is pricey!

Expect to pay:

  • $298HKD per adult
  • $208HKD per child (aged 3-11)
  • Under 3s eat free

A 10% service charge is added to your bill. That made for a £120 breakfast for our family of four – definitely splurge territory in our house!

TOP TIP: You book breakfast for the day, but you don’t choose your arrival time slot here. You just turn up! Having watched the queues form first hand, and by walking past the rest of our stay, I advice either arriving early (we sat to eat at 7.30 am and it was lovely and quiet) or a little later (after 9.30/10 am) if you don’t want to stand in long lines.

Grab-and-Go Breakfast at The Archivist

On our other mornings, we opted for the “grab-and-go” breakfast option at The Archivist. This cost $98HKD per person and you could choose a drink and a quick breakfast option to take away.

The options available were:

Coffee

Plain croissant

Tea

Bacon and egg croissant

Orange Juice

Mickey-shaped spinach and mushroom quiche

Apple Juice

Mickey-shaped cupcake (the one we tried was carrot cake with chocolate frosting)

These were convenient when we wanted something quicker before heading out, and the cheapest option available to us in the hotel. But I’m not going to lie, I did think they were a little expensive for what you got! If you’re doing Disney after Hong Kong, bring snacks and drinks with you, you’ll save a fortune!

However, I have to give a special mention to the Mickey-shaped quiches. Yum!

Evening Tapas and Cocktails at The Archivist

We went back to The Archivist one evening for tapas and cocktails, after a long day in the park.

It was lovely to have somewhere to relax and enjoy a drink without leaving the hotel after a busy day, and although it’s a cocktail bar, there were some other families in there and the kids were welcome (something I was a little worried about at first).

Drinking cocktails in The Archivist at Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

And the cocktails were genuinely excellent : I tried mine and Mike’s, purely in the spirit of research of course! The boys had mocktails, which they loved too.

The food, we were less keen on. I’m sure this is a cultural issue that says more about us than anything else, but we ordered the Korean chicken platter for the boys, and being served battered chicken gristle when they expected nuggets was a low light for the two mini explorers!

The Little Details That Made Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong Special

Sometimes it’s the small touches that turn a good hotel into a great one. And there were enough of these to cover in this Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong review that turned it into a hotel we now genuinely love.

The insect repellent at the entry and exit of every hotel door

I’ve already briefly mentioned one of those, but I’ll elaborate here: at every single entry/exit to the hotel there was a stand which held two bottles of insect repellent. One contained DEET for adults, and a DEET-free one for kids. There were then a few of these same stands on the route to the bus stop. We used these every time we left the hotel, and we didn’t get a single insect bite between us during our whole stay!

Then there were the Marvel-themed slippers, the discount vouchers waiting in our room when we arrived! The boys liked the slippers so much that we brought theirs home! And the discount vouchers were only for small amounts, but they covered the in-store Disney retail space, and the two restaurants too, which was a really nice touch.

The discount vouchers waiting on the table in our room at Disney's Hollywood Hotel, Hong Kong

I’m not saying any of these are reasons to book a hotel on their own, of course I’m not! But together, they created the feeling that somebody had really thought about the guest experience. They made us feel appreciated and enhanced our stay.

Other family-friendly facilities worth mentioning include a small playground (great for running off some steam), and in the mornings there’s a small go kart track running along the waterfront that kids can use completely free of charge!

Pros and Cons of Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

WHAT WE LOVED:

  • It was excellent value for an official Disney hotels
  • The rooms were a good size, modern, and the Marvel-theming worked well
  • The fantastic swimming pool and waterslides
  • How frequent the complimentary shuttle buses to the park are
  • The free family activities and the thoughtful extras

WHAT COULD BE BETTER:

  • The character breakfast was great but it was expensive
  • The boys had to share a double bed (two singles or even bunk beds might be better)
  • We wished there were more inexpensive and easy to grab food options at the hotel
  • It’s the furthest hotel from the park entrance (this only matters if you want to walk)

Is Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Worth the Money?

For us, we thought that Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong was worth every penny, and we would be more than happy to stay here again. We paid less than £200 per night for our family of four, and considering the location, theming, facilities and convenience, we thought that was great value!

Of course, room rates vary depending on your dates, room category and availability, so you shouldn’t assume you’ll always find the same price as we did, but I did have a good look round and there are similar prices available now too.

The exterior of the Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong

What we really loved about our stay was that Disney’s Hollywood Hotel offers much more than simply a convenient place to sleep near Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s somewhere we’d happily spend time even when we weren’t visiting the theme park.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong FAQs

Is Breakfast included at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong?

Breakfast wasn’t included in our booking, and isn’t generally included in standard bookings, but it can be added. You can either add a breakfast package at the point of booking, via the official Hong Kong Disneyland website, or on arrival. I do feel the buffet was expensive, although the quality was great. There’s also a grab-and-go alternative at The Archivist if you prefer something faster and lighter.

Can you walk from Disney’s Hollywood Hotel to Hong Kong Disneyland?

If you want to walk between the hotel and the park then this is definitely possible. It’s around a 20 minute walk, and a pleasant walk along the water front. If you’d rather not walk, there is also a free shuttle bus between the hotel and the park. The journey only takes around 5 minutes, and buses are incredibly regular.

Does Disney’s Hollywood Hotel have a swimming pool?

Yes it does: a large outdoor pool that’s shaped like a grand piano. The pool has a water slide, and there is also a separate jacuzzi pool. At one end of the pool there’s step-free entry, which works well for wheelchair users and small children. At its shallowest point, therefore, the pool offers zero depth entry. The exact depth beyond that isn’t published, but I believe at its deepest point the pool is around 140cm (the height of Little Explorer!)

Is Disney’s Hollywood Hotel better than Disney Explorers Lodge?

We choose the Hollywood hotel based on its price (it’s the most affordable on-site hotel) and the pool, which we loved the look of in the photos. We were very happy with our choice, which worked well for us! But there are some perks of the Explorers Lodge that we didn’t get to take advantage of. Explorers Lodge offers bar service around the pool, for example, which isn’t offered at the Hollywood Hotel. Explorers Lodge also has a quick service dining option, which isn’t available at the Hollywood Hotel. In reality it’s about choosing the facilities that work best for you and your family’s needs.

Final Thoughts: Our Disney’s Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong Review

We booked Disney’s Hollywood Hotel because it offered an affordable way to stay onsite at Hong Kong Disneyland. The rooms looked great, and it was the cheapest of the two official Disney hotels that were available for our stay.

We left feeling like we’d discovered one of the best-value Disney hotel experiences we’ve had. We loved the swimming pool so much, the theming was excellent, and even the frequency of the free shuttle buses made all the difference to the quality of our stay. And although I think I would’ve preferred a classic character room, the boys’ unexpected enthusiasm for our Marvel-themed room was an added bonus!

For families planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is definitely our recommendation! Ready to book this hotel for your own family?
