Space Loop Restaurant Futuroscope Review: Is It Worth It?
Is the rollercoaster restaurant at Futuroscope worth visiting? From the food to the theming, this review will cover everything you need to know about the Space Loop Restaurant.
The Space Loop Restaurant was the dining experience we were most excited about during our recent visit to Futuroscope. Roller coaster restaurants are such a fun and unique concept, and the Space Loop roller coaster restaurant is officially the first and only rollercoaster restaurant in France. So if you’re in France and you want to visit one, this is the place to be. (Want to visit a rollercoaster restaurant closer to home? Not sure what a rollercoaster restaurant is? It’s surprisingly simple: instead of being carried to your table by a waiter, your food travels around a network of twisting tracks above your head before landing directly in front of you!
Walking into a restaurant with metal rollercoaster track twisted above your head is both cool and overwhelming, and we were so transfixed by watching everyone’s food come whizzing by, that it was actually hard for us to have a meaningful conversation! We mostly said “Ooh, ones coming!” and “Look at that one!” for an hour.
It’s an incredibly fun concept and, unsurprisingly, the boys loved it. So much so that it was their first choice when we asked them what they wanted for dinner, after they’d just had lunch here! But what most people want to know is, is the food actually any good? Or are you paying purely for the novelty of watching your dinner ride a rollercoaster?
The honest answer is a little bit of both. We thought the experience was brilliant, the service was remarkably quick and some of the food was genuinely delicious. Other dishes? They were more average. But I would still recommend Space Loop to families looking for somewhere special and unforgettable to eat at Futuroscope.

Space Loop is worth visiting for families. Ordering from the screens and watching your food race around the restaurant is the highlight of the experience particularly for children. The food was good rather than spectacular overall, although there were some notable exceptions. We loved the Tex-Mex starter, the boys said they were the best chips they’ve ever had (and those guys are chip connoisseurs), and the desserts were excellent. The crème brûlée was so good that Little Explorer started licking the dish, to my eternal parental shame!
What Is the Futuroscope Rollercoaster Restaurant?
Space Loop Restaurant is a futuristic restaurant located next door to the Station Cosmos Hotel at Futuroscope.Its main attraction is the unusual food-delivery system: it does exactly what it says on the tin, it’s a rollercoaster! Instead of waiters bringing dishes across the restaurant, food is placed inside special containers that travel around an elaborate network of rollercoaster-style tracks.
The containers twist, turn and loop around the restaurant before arriving at the correct table.
Watching it travel overhead is honestly the highlight of the whole experience, even when the food isn’t yours! The restaurant fits perfectly with the futuristic theme of Futuroscope and Station Cosmos. It feels more like another attraction in the area, which is testament to the way the whole resort has been themed to be fair.
We’ve already visited a similar rollercoaster restaurant in Alton Towers, but although the track concept is the same, the theming and the food is very different. And having done it before didn’t make Space Loop any less exciting, so if you have too don’t let that put you off!
Where Is Space Loop Restaurant?
The location of the Space Loop restaurant threw us a bit, so hopefully this will make finding it easier for you! We were confused because the Space Loop restaurant isn’t actually in the Futuroscope park. It’s located right next door to the Station Cosmos Hotel in the Futuroscope resort area. This is good news for two main reasons. Because the restaurant is outside the main theme park entrance rather than inside the park itself, you:
- Don’t need to walk deep into Futuroscope to reach it, making it particularly convenient for Station Cosmos guests.
- Don’t need a Futuroscope park ticket to visit. So you can eat after going to Aquascope too, or just if you’re in the area and you want to try something different!
But if you’re booking for lunch like we did, my advice would be to stay at the front of the park otherwise it’s a real trek to get back to the restaurant. That’s what we did, going on rides like The Time Machine (which we call the Rabbids Ride) and Mission Bermudes, so that we only had a 5 minute walk out of the ride and to the restaurant.
How Does the Space Loop Ordering System Work?
Ordering at Space Loop is part of the experience, and thankfully not as confusing as our server made it seem! Each seat has a number, and each seat is allocated a plastic credit card-type key.
Instead of giving your order to a waiter, you select your food using the iPad-style digital screen at your table. The system allows everyone to look through the different starters, main courses, desserts and drinks before choosing what they want. You swipe your key then place your order: because you’ve used your own key, the roller coaster will delivery your food straight to your seat. It was such a fun and clever system!
The boys loved this (is anybody surprised by this ‘kids love ipads’ shock news?!) because they could explore the menu and then place their order themselves. And although the menu is delivered in French as standard, of course because you’re in France, you can change this to English or Spanish using the language selection tool.
The experience works best if you resist the temptation to stare at your screen and instead watch the tracks. Part of the fun is trying to work out whether the next container is heading towards you! In fact I’ve never seen my boys stare at anything as intently as they were staring at those tracks! Our food arrived surprisingly quickly. We had been expecting the novelty delivery system to make the meal slower, but there was virtually no waiting around.
How Much Does Space Loop Restaurant Cost?
The Space Loop menu is à la carte, so answering the question ‘how much does the Space Loop Restaurant cost’ really depends on how many courses you intend to eat, and how many people are in your group. I made a note of what we ordered, and how much each dish cost, to help give you an idea of the Space Loop restaurant prices:
STARTERS
- Thai salad with samosas and spring rolls: €7.50
- Charcuterie starter: €7.50
- Tex-Mex Mix: €8.50 (Both boys had this)
MAIN COURSES
- Chicken supreme: €16
- Big Blue Burger: €16 (Mike and Big Explorer ordered the same dish)
- Children’s cornflake chicken meal: €9
DESSERTS
- Crème brûlée: €7.50 (For all three boys!)
- Café liégeois: €8
These prices are correct as of our visit in August 2026. But menu items and prices can change, so use these as an indication rather than a guaranteed current price list.
I will say that I was impressed by the prices of the food, especially because we were eating in a
heavily themed restaurant at a major tourist attraction. You can’t even get a ‘quick service’ Disney menu for that price, so I didn’t think the prices were particularly inflated just because the food arrived on rollercoaster tracks.
Our Experience at Space Loop Restaurant
We visited Space Loop for lunch, halfway through our family day at Futuroscope. For context, we were there for a two day visit, spending one day in Futuroscope theme park and the next in the Aquascope waterpark.
After a busy morning exploring the park, sitting down in an air-conditioned restaurant was a welcome break: I recommend booking a restaurant from a parent’s perspective, because it does give you that time out to relax away from the queues and the chaos. Theme park days can become exhausting when you try to fill every available minute with another ride, so this is something we always factor into our plans.
Walking into the restaurant it has an immediate ‘wow factor’. There’s always something moving above your head, and the sound of containers making their way around the tracks means you don’t know where to look first! Despite the unusual delivery system, ordering was simple and our food began arriving quickly. I was actually really pleasantly surprised by how fast our food came out.
What Is the Food Like at Space Loop Restaurant?
The food at Space Loop was mixed, but generally enjoyable. Some dishes were much better than we had anticipated, while others felt closer to conventional theme park food. We wouldn’t describe Space Loop as an essential destination for serious foodies, butthe food was good enough that it didn’t feel like a cheap gimmick either.
The Starters
The Tex-Mex Mix was the standout savoury dish of our meal for Mike and the boys. Out of everything we ordered, this was the dish we would be most likely to choose again. We also tried the Thai salad with samosas and spring rolls and the charcuterie selection.
The spring rolls were genuinely delicious. The variety of options here gave the adults something more interesting to choose than simply ordering burgers and chips. The starters offered a good balance between recognisable family favourites and slightly more adventurous options, so I thought they worked really well.
The Main Courses
For our main courses, we tried the chicken supreme, the Big Blue Burger and the children’s cornflake chicken. The boys were particularly impressed with the seasoned chips, which is always an important endorsement in our family! The main courses were enjoyable, but they didn’t impress us as much as the starters or desserts. My chicken supreme could have benefited from more sauce, as it became a little dry in places. Mike’s burger was good, and the bright blue bun made it more visually exciting, but the presentation and rollercoaster delivery were probably more memorable than the burger itself.
This is where I think expectations matter. If you visit expecting a fun themed meal with perfectly pleasant food, you’re likely to enjoy it. If you are expecting fine dining because of the futuristic ordering system, you may be disappointed.
The Desserts
The desserts were the highlight of our meal. Mike and the boys ordered the crème brûlée and although my dessert was delicious too, I definitely had food envy. Little Explorer loved his so much that after he’s scraped up every bit, he picked it up to lick the bowl! I laughed and was embarradded at the same time…
The crème brûlée had a crisp caramelised topping and a smooth, creamy filling. It was easily one of the best dishes we tried in the whole restaurant.
I ordered the café liégeois, which was another generous and enjoyable dessert: I’m a big lover or anything coffee flavoured, so it was the perfect choice for me. If you have room, I definitely recommend adding a dessert to your order.
Do You Need to Book The Space Loop Restaurant?
Like most restaurants, if there are tables available you can walk in to the Space Loop Restaurant, but during busy periods you’re not guarenteed to get a table. That’s why I would recommend reserving a table at Space Loop Restaurant in advance, particularly during school holidays, weekends and other busy periods. We visited at lunchtime on a Tuesday in August, and they weren’t taking reservations, because the restaurant was fully booked.
If eating here is an important part of your visit, I wouldn’t risk relying on a walk-in table.

Wondering what time to book and how long the whole exprience will take? Our reservation was for 1pm. We arrived a little early and were seated at approximately 12.55pm and left at around 2.05pm, meaning our entire meal took roughly 70 minutes. It felt leisurely rather than rushed, but the fast ordering and delivery system meant we weren’t sitting around waiting for our food. My tired mum legs were actually glad of the rest half way through what was a long theme park day.
What Didn’t We Like About The Space Loop Restaurant?
As you guy know, I always try to be as honest as possible in these reviews. And we really enjoyed our Space Loop experience. My main criticism would be that the food wasn’t consistently as impressive as the concept. But this is often the case (and to be honest expected) when you eat in theme parks.
The boys all agreed that the Tex-Mex starter and desserts were excellent. I also really enjoyed the Thai Spring rolls that I had to start. But some of the main courses were more ordinary. Not bad, enjoyable even, but just not special. My chicken supreme needed more sauce, and a few dishes felt like perfectly pleasant theme park food rather than something we would travel specifically to eat.
It’s also worth noting that the delivery containers affect the presentation. This didn’t bother us at all, but if you’re used to fine dining experiences, it’s something to bear in mind. Your meal doesn’t arrive beautifully arranged on restaurant crockery by a waiter because it needs to travel safely around the tracks.
I will say that these are relatively small complaints. We booked Space Loop because we wanted the rollercoaster restaurant experience, and on that front it absolutely delivered. It was a good meal, a really fun experience, and we all agreed we would go back and eat here again!

You don’t need Futuroscope tickets to visit this restaurant, but in my opinon, visiting the Space Loop restaurant compliments a Futuroscope day out perfectly, and the two experiences should go hand in hand. I strongly recommend booking your Futuroscope tickets in advance, especially if you want to visit during a peak time like weekends or school holidays.
