Review: Eurocamp Le Domaine du Clarys, Le Clarys Plage
Updated for 2026 to reflect updated Eurocamp Le Domaine du Clarys prices and facilities
Thinking about taking a Eurocamp holiday? It’s a great way to travel abroad with kids while avoiding the wildly inflated flight prices if you dare to have a holiday in August. Because flights for 1 might be achievable but for a family of 4 they make your eyes water!
This year we tried the Eurocamp Domaine du Clarys resort (better known as Clarys Plage) and I used the word resort deliberately, because that’s what this site is! Think 5 star resort-level facilities, but campsite prices.
Located right by the beach in St Jean-de-Monts, which is in Vendee, France, this is a 5 star campsite that has so many incredible facilities including, but not limited to, a huge pool complex with an epic water park, playgrounds, restaurants and cafes, game areas, and easy access to a beautiful beach that’s great for surfing.
We stayed for 5 nights in August, as part of a wider road trip in France. Here’s our full and comprehensive review covering everything you need to know about visiting Eurocamp Le Domaine Du Clarys, Clarys Plage:

The Accomodation at Le Domaine du Clarys
We stayed in one of the Eurocamp comfort models, and opted for the 3 bedroom version so the kids could have a room of their own. We didn’t need to do this, they’re happy to share, but we all appreciated the extra space! And the difference in price was less than £50.

The comfort is the cheapest option Eurocamp offer, which really just means you don’t get a TV in your caravan. We didn’t miss it at all as we were happy to play at the playground, walk along the beach, or sit on our terrace playing card and board games in the evening.
The mobile home did come with air conditioning (which was welcomed, and we would never book Eurocamp accomodation without this) and the main room had a fully equipped kitchen, a dining table with 4 chairs, and a sofa unit with a small coffee table. There was a bathroom (this was small and had just a shower and a sink) then a separate toilet, which is always handy!
There was a double bedroom, and 2 bedrooms which each had 2 single beds, meaning that we could have slept 6. Each of the bedrooms had plenty of storage space. Take a look at Eurocamp’s holiday homes
Outside there was a covered terrace, a large table with 6 chairs, and 2 plastic armchairs. The weather was so lovely that we ate all our meals, and did most of our hanging out, here in the sunshine! The terrace was a really good size, with room for us and for our surf boards too. There was also a folding airer for hanging towels and swimwear here (boring, but practical information alert!)

We could park our car at the front of our mobile home, but we did notice that the homes on this site were tightly packed together. It didn’t bother us at all, but worth mentioning if you’re looking for a little more space and privacy (We went to Eurocamp’s Hourtin Plage site last year, and felt there was much more room between the vans there if that’s what you’re looking for. You can read my review of this site here).
How Much does Eurocamp Le Domaine du Clarys, Le Clarys Plage Cost?
Eurocamp Le Domaine du Clarys is one of the cheaper Eurocamp sites that we’ve visited, but it has so much to do, both on the site and in the surrounding areas too. And we were pleasantly surprised by what we got for our money. The water park, pools, playground, and close access to the beach were all the same quality we would expect from a much more expensive all inclusive resort!
This year the parks opening dates are from 27 Mar 2026 – 20 Sep 2026, so I priced up two different breaks for a family of four: one in May and one in the school summer holidays
7 Nights in May: From May 23rd would cost £362 at time of writing.
7 nights in August: From August 26th would cost £787 at time of writing.
Note: travelling at the end of August is always significantly cheaper than travelling at the beginning of August. It’s one of my top money-saving tips!
👉Tip: Eurocamp holidays sell out quickly at Sables D’Or, especially in peak summer, so it’s worth booking as early as possible to secure your dates.

What Are The Facilities Like On The Site?
When it comes to the facilities, it’s easy to see why this is a 5 star campsite! This had hands-down the best waterpark of any Eurocamp we’ve visited so far!

There was something for everyone! If it got a little chilly there was a heated, covered pool.
The main pool was enormous with 6 different slides running into it. There was a smaller, shallow end of the same pool with replicas of the 2 slides (but in miniature) for toddlers/smaller children.
Behind this main pool complex was a lazy river, a huge splash pad which had a fun mythical beast/dragon/almost Grecian theme, and then an enormous slide which dropped you into a bowl and out of the mouth of a snake.

It was the splash area and the giant snake slide which were the highlight for the boys!
I’m going to drop some more practical mum info on your now: there is only one entry in and out of the swimming complex, which made me feel like the kids were safe and secure to play freely (although we don’t leave them alone in water anyway!) and no shoes were allowed in the swimming area at all, so don’t pack your most expensive flip flops. You’ll be leaving them at the door!
I don’t know if times vary by season, but in August the pool complex opened at 10am and closed at 7pm.
We used the water park every single day. It was at its quietest in the mornings (until around lunchtime) and for the hour before it closed. The rest of the day was jam packed, but not so crowded as to be unpleasant. But if you don’t like crowds, go early!
The other facilities we used on the campsite a lot were the parks and the huge kids fun park which had a soft play type obstacle course/outdoor play area. The boys are 8 and almost 12 now, and it was perfect for them both. There were no opening hours for these, and there were kids out playing until it was dark.

There was also a little farm in the same fun zone area, but sadly we’ve outgrown farms, so we didn’t explore this.
Other facilities we didn’t explore but that you should know about include a games room, laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers, table tennis tables, nightly entertainment (including quizzes and karaoke) football pitches, tennis courts, boules, and purpose built BBQs.

What Is There To Do Nearby?
If you’re like us and you like to keep busy when you’re on holiday then this is another great reason to choose this particular site! We love the beach, and you’re spoilt for choice here!

Around a 5 minute walk from the entrance to the beach is Clarys Plage. This is a beautiful stretch of sand, and a great beach for surfing, which is one of the things that attracted us to this campsite. There is a snack bar on the beach, but not the usual tat and attractions that you would find on the larger beach here.
It’s worth noting that you can’t hire boards on this beach – we took our own! But there are tonnes of hire shops in Vendee, if you do want to hire a board when you get there.

If you drive for 10 minutes you’ll find yourself in St Jean De Monts. We LOVED this place, and would definitely go back in a heartbeat! It’s a traditional French seaside town with an abundance of amazing bars and restaurants.
The main drag has a great mix of tat shops and independent boutiques. There’s a huge observation wheel right by the beach, which is a great way to see the town from a new perspective.

And if you’re traveling with kids then on the beach you’ll find play equipment, trampolines, bouncy castles, and even an inflatable water slide with a small swimming pool which the boys couldn’t get enough of – we ended up there most afternoons.
We didn’t get the chance to try it (there were so many watersports for my waterbabies that we ran out of time!) but there was also a huge stables close to the camp site which we drove past every day, and the horses looked beautifully cared for. It would have been a fun place to take riding lessons.
When we checked in we were given a welcome pack packed full of brochures (and discount codes) for things to do in the local area (photo below) so you definitely won’t be bored if you choose this Eurocamp. We actually wished we’d booked to stay here longer because there were so many things we wanted to do.

Other posts will follow about the other things we got up to on our French road trip, things to do, and places to explore. But if you want somewhere to stay that’s close to the beach, has amazing facilities, and is ridiculously affordable, then I couldn’t recommend this particular Eurocamp enough!
