Why Renting a Hanbok is a Must in Seoul
Wearing a hanbok isn’t just for photos, it’s a cultural experience that lets you step into traditional Korean heritage. I loved every minute of wearing mine, and really didn’t want to take it off at the end of the day. Plus:
- Entry to the main palaces is free when wearing a hanbok (so it actually saved me money!)
- It makes your photos instantly more magical (these are some of my favourite Seoul snaps!)
- You get to try a piece of Korean history with modern convenience

My Top Pick: Daehan Hanbok
In my opinion, by far the best hanbok rental in Seoul is Daehan Hanbok. It was a wonderful experience, start to finish, from choosing my gown to the lovely women who helped dress me. I also paid a little extra to have my hair done, and it looked so pretty. I felt like a (middle-aged) princess!
Some of the top reasons I think Daehan Hanbok is the best hanbok rental in Seoul are:
Location: Right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, making it perfect for photos and easy palace access. I also didn’t have to wander around back-streets looking for an address in the middle of nowhere!
Sizes for everyone: This was such a big factor for me! I wear a UK size 16 (US 12) and I don’t fit into standard sizes in Asia: they’re a much more petite population. But in Daehan Hanbok they carry ALL SIZES including both petite and plus sizes. This is rare among Seoul hanbok rentals, and is one of the reasons I sing about this place from the rooftops!
Quality & Variety They stock a huge range of beautiful traditional hanboks with authentic details, and in a rainbow of colours. Unlike other rental places, all the accessories were included too (sashes, hairpins, bags) and there were matching options available for whole families if everyone wanted to get involved.
Tip: Reserve your preferred date in advance via Klook to avoid disappointment. This is the best hanbok rental in Seoul for a reason, and its reputation means it can book up fast!

Other Popular Hanbok Rentals in Seoul
While Daehan Hanok is my top choice, it is far from the only hanbok rental in Seoul. Here are a few others are worth considering if Daehan Hanok is fully booked or if you want to try a different experience:
- Studio KJD: Beautiful hanboks but plus sizes only go up to 125cm chest diameter, which won’t work for everyone. Find out more and book here.
- Hanboknam: A great budget option but the selection of hanboks available is a little smaller. Find out more and book here.
- Princess Hanbok: Beautiful hanboks, but the prices are a little more expensive. Find out more and book here.
Pro tip: If you care about location, size variety, and a smooth experience, Daehan Hanok is unbeatable in my experience.

How to Book Your Hanbok Rental
- Decide which palace or location you want to explore first
- Choose your hanbok style and size (check if plus sizes or tall sizes are available if you need these)
- Book online to secure your slot
- Arrive early, try on your hanbok, and enjoy your day!
Bonus: Most rentals include a photo-ready setup and easy pick-up/drop-off. Look for these features for the best possible experience.

Final Thoughts
For a stress-free, authentic, and photo-ready hanbok experience in Seoul, Daehan Hanok is my top recommendation. With its convenient location, wide range of size options, and excellent service, it was a great experience, and one I think would be perfect for solo travelers, couples, or families. (although I was in Korea with my family, I did this experience solo as noone else wanted to join in!)
