While DisneySea has its own unique attractions, Disneyland is perfect for families looking for a mix of excitement and iconic Disney moments. And the best rides in Tokyo Disneyland aren’t the same as the rides you’ll find in other Disneyland Parks around the world.

To curate this list of the best Tokyo Disneyland rides, I sat down with the boys and we hashed out our favourites. Here are our top picks, ranked from one to seven:
1. Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast
I had to fight the boys a little bit to put the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast at the top of this list, but I truly think it’s the best Tokyo Disneyland ride in the whole park. You board your own teacup then move from scene to scene as the story of the Beauty and the Beast is told via music and animatronic.
The castle that the ride is set in is stunning. And the scene in the middle of the ride where the beast transforms from man to beast is so amazing, so clever, that I had to ride again just to see it again.
Top Tip: The queues for this ride as generally the longest in the whole Tokyo Disneyland Park. If you’re only going to use Premier Access for one ride, I recommend you use it for this one. But it’s worth waiting for, and definitely the best Tokyo Disneyland ride in my opinion.
Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast height limit: No height restrictions

2. Splash Mountain
When I asked my boys what the best Tokyo Disneyland ride is, they both said Splash Mountain. Tokyo is the only park left with a Splash Mountain ride, as the one in Walt Disney World has been rebranded to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This ride is true to the original, telling the story of Brear Rabbit and the culminating with a big wet drop.
This is such a good family ride, and quite a long ride too (so you feel like you get value for money!) It builds up suspense to the big drop, and we giggled the whole way round. Definitely recommended!

3. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt
I really loved the Pooh’s Hunny Hunt ride. It’s a family friendly ride that even the smallest children can go on, but even if you aren’t travelling with little kids, don’t skip this ride! Its so adorable.
This ride uses trackless technology, so even though you’re following a set route, it feels much ore spontaneous. The story of the ride is lovely, as you take a ride around 100 Acre Wood and meet all of its inhabitants.

4. Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek
The Monsters Inc Ride and Go Seek ride is so much fun! I think it’s the best interactive Tokyo Disneyland ride. We love interactive rides, and anything where we get a score and can be competitive with each other! You ride in a security car through scenes from the original Monsters Inc movie and you’ve given a flashlight to find hidden monsters: you earn points for each monster you find,.
This is the closest ride to the park entrance, so if you are one of the first people into the park is a great pick for a ride to run to so you can get on without too much queuing (we did this, and it worked for us!)

5. The Happy Ride With Baymax
We love Baymax: And he’s the most Japanese of the Disney characters, as well as being the star of a brilliant film! So it makes sense that you have to ride the Baymax ride. The ride itself is fun, but not particularly special.
What makes this ride stand out from the crowd is the music, the atmosphere and the cast members! They stand around the sides of the ride dancing, and encouraging you to dance too! That’s the reason this ride has an almost cult-like following, and why you shouldn’t miss it!

6. It’s a Small World
We all know it’s a small world: a boat ride with little dolls and their annoyingly upbeat song that gets trapped in your head all day. It’s the perfect ride with families that have kids of all ages: even babies are allowed to ride.
But the reason you shouldn’t miss this ride in Tokyo? Because as well as having dolls in national dress throughout the ride, the Japanese version is also littered with Disney characters. It’s so unique, and the boys loved spotting all their favourites. On our last trip, we even caught the Groot/Marvel take over, which the boys loved so much that we rode it twice!

7. Roger Rabbit Spin
Number 7 on my list of the 7 best Tokyo Disneyland rides is a bit of a wildcard: but this is another mad-fun ride that you won’t find anywhere else. It also has the best queue line in the park if you’re a fan of the Who Framed Roger Rabbit Movie, with lots of easter eggs and hidden details that we all loved. This is one of our favourite family movies (one of those films that we wheel out every Christmas) and it was as good as we expected.
This is also a great ride for the whole family, suitable for kids of all ages, and the ride lines are never too long for this one either!

Family-Friendly Shows at Tokyo Disneyland
- Parades: Don’t miss the daytime parade for character sightings and amazing floats. It’s a great show! But if you only havr time to see one parade, I recommend you watch the electric night parade in the evening. It’s the best show in the whole park!
- Stage Shows: “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” and seasonal shows delight younger audiences. There is also a nightly fireworks show that takes place as the park is closing with projections on the castle that compliment the fireworks. This is also well worth checking out!
- Tips: Arrive early for front-row viewing; shows are often repeated throughout the day.
Ticket Booking Tips
Tokyo Disneyland is one of the most popular (and one of the most crowded) theme parks in Japan. For this reason, I strongly advise that you book your tickets in advance. These aren’t always available on the day, and Tokyo is a long way to go to be disappointed when you arrive!
I also recommend that you book your tickets with Klook. 1. What are the best rides at Tokyo Disneyland for kids?
I’ve listed our favourite rides above. But the top family-friendly rides are: It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain (for older kids). These combine gentle fun with a few thrilling experiences for all ages.
2. How do I buy Tokyo Disneyland tickets?

3. Can I visit both Disneyland and DisneySea in one day?
Technically yes, but your day would be very rushed. Occasionally Tokyo Disney do offer two park tickets, but as a general rule these ae not available either. To enjoy both parks fully, we recommend one full day per park, especially if you’re visiting with kids.
4. Are there height restrictions for rides?
Yes. Rides like Space Mountain and Splash Mountain have height restrictions (usually 102–120cm). Gentle rides like It’s a Small World and Peter Pan’s Flight are suitable for all ages.

5. What shows and parades are best for families?
Don’t miss the daytime parade for character interactions and floats. We also really enjoyed Mickey’s PhilharMagic, where you don 3D glasses to watch a musical theatre show that’s perfect for younger kids. but the best show? The electric light parade that takes place each evening. We love it so much that we watch it every time!
Top Tip: Arrive 20–30 minutes early for the best viewing spots. And bring a leisure sheet or something to sit on. In Japan, everyone sits down to watch the parades, which we love as it means that even if you’re several rows back, you’ll still get an amazing view .
6. When is the best time to go on rides?
- Early morning: Popular rides like Peter Pan’s Flight or Space Mountain have shorter waits.
- In the evening: During the last hour of the day we rode all of the ‘kids rides’ in Fantasy Land with no queues at all. We walked straight on! This is the best time to ride these rides, when families with the youngest children have gone home.
- During parades: Lines for big rides may be shorter.
- Use Premier Access (if available) for top attractions to minimize wait times.These are an additional expense, but our attitude was that we’d paid a small fortune to get to Japan, we didn’t want to go home without riding all the rides on our hit list!
7. Are strollers and accessibility supported?
Yes. Tokyo Disneyland is stroller-friendly and fully accessible with ramps, elevators, and family rest areas.
