Is Klook Legit? Why Use Klook? Our Experience of Using Klook in Japan
Find out why Klook is a legit place to buy tickets if you’re travelling to Japan. It is one of the biggest marketplaces for buying tickets, excursions, and travel experiences in Asia. And it has been our ‘go to’ for buying tickets in Japan for years.
I talk about Klook a lot here, which means I am often asked is Klook legit? And honestly, the simple answer to this question is yes – Klook is a totally legit website! In fact, I couldn’t imagine planning our travel (particularly in Japan and South Korea) without it.
When I first started planning our family trips to Japan, I found myself hitting the same frustrating wall again and again: so many Japanese attraction websites don’t accept foreign credit cards. Even when they do, the booking systems can be confusing, clunky, or (let’s be honest) a complete puzzle to navigate in English. Because Google Translate can only take you so far! And direct translations are often more confusing than attempting to read Japanese!
That’s where Klook came to the rescue.
Over the past few years we’ve booked everything from airport transfers and SIM cards to theme park tickets and day trips through Klook. So is Klook legit? Is it safe to buy your all-important tickets with Klook? The short answer: absolutely.
Klook is one of the biggest travel activity platforms in the world. They partner directly with theme parks, museums, transport providers, and tour companies. You can even use them to book your hotels (and usually for better prices than with booking.com!)
When you book through Klook, you’re not dealing with a random middleman — you’re buying a confirmed ticket that works just as if you booked direct. These tickets are delivered straight to your phone in minutes, and you can even book them and use them on the same day. I’ve put an example of a Universal Studios Japan ticket with the QR code below (this is one of our old, expired tickets)
We’ve personally used Klook in Japan for:
- Universal Studios Japan tickets (including Express Passes — and if you’ve ever tried buying those on the Japanese site, you’ll know how stressful it is).
- TeamLab Planets entry — we walked straight in with the QR code, no hassle.
- Airport transfers in Tokyo and Osaka.
- Shinkansen passes and regional rail tickets (this is where Klook really shines! I would never try to book my Shinkansen tickets anywhere else, especially since they recently made it even easier to rebook and change your train tickets).
Every booking has worked flawlessly. You get a QR code or e-voucher, scan it at the gate, and in you go. Zero stress, no queues, no language barrier, I wouldn’t want to book our experiences any other way.
Why Use Klook for Japan?

Many Japanese attractions have their own websites, but they’re often not in English, require Japanese addresses, or don’t take overseas credit cards. And some websites it’s just potluck: I know some people who can’t use their card on the Tokyo Disneyland website, for example, and some who can.
When you’re travelling with kids, the last thing you want is to spend hours fighting with a booking form. With Klook, I can book in minutes from my phone, have tickets delivered straight to my phone, and head out with no hassle!

No printing, no waiting. We just show the QR code on our phones and walk in. Our Family’s Experience
On our last trip to Japan we arrived into Tokyo on a flight that didn’t land until 10pm. It then took another 2 hours to queue and clear customs and security (not the easiest time of day to be standing in line with kids!). I’d pre-booked our airport transfer straight to our hotel on Klook, and it was one of the smoothest parts of the whole journey. The driver arrived exactly on time and waited for us even though we took hours getting through security, we didn’t have to worry about language barriers or juggling cash, and the kids could just snooze in the back while we headed to our hotel.

Can I trust Klook with my credit card details?
Yes. Klook is a global booking platform with secure payment systems. I’ve used both UK and international cards without any issues — which isn’t always the case when trying to book directly on Japanese websites.
Do I need to print my Klook tickets?
Not at all. Nearly every attraction in Japan accepts mobile QR codes. I simply show the ticket on my phone, and we’re straight through the gate — no paper or printing needed. (Although I will admit on our first visit we were skeptical so we printed out everything! We really didn’t need to)
Can I cancel or get a refund on Klook tickets?
It depends on the attraction. Some tickets are strictly non-refundable (like Universal Studios Japan), but many offer free cancellation up to 24 or 48 hours before. This is usually the same as on the official website. Always check the cancellation policy before booking — it’s clearly shown on each listing, to make this easy for you to navigate.
