Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel Review. How to Book, The Rooms, The Facilities, and More!

Is the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel worth it? My honest review after staying – our full family experience at this beautiful hotel close to Tokyo and Tokyo Disneyland.

Our review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

During our first week in Tokyo we stayed in the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince hotel, and I’m not sure any other hotel in the city will be able to live up to it! Compared to the hotels we stayed in both in Tokyo and in other cities in Japan, this was by far the best one we’ve tried (so far!).

We read so many Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince hotel reviews before we decided to book our family room, but so many of these weren’t from people travelling as a family, so I wanted to share my Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince review in case it helped anyone that is currently in the same boat we were!

So lets start with an overview! The Shiomi Prince hotel is sleek and modern, and so close to the station that you can see the trains passing by from some of the windows (soundproofing means that you can’t hear them though!)

Its proximity to the station is a great benefit of this hotel – we loved that at the end of the day we could walk back to the hotel from the station in less than 2 minutes. This hotel is on the JE line, and the nearest station is Shiomi. Just what you need when your feet are throbbing from a day of exploring the city!

The Rooms At The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel

The rooms at the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince hotel might seem quite cramped by western standards, but they’re incredibly spacious by Japanese standards. The photo below shows the family room that’s set up for 4, and as you can see the rooms are very close together but they’re also absolutely enormous! Soft and comfortable. The pillows were soft and the bedding was cosy too.

The room also boasted a large wardrobe (which was a godsend for all our luggage) and the bathroom, toilet, and open vanity area were all separate. The vanity had a great ring light that was great for doing my make up!

Ideal for a family, as it meant there was no fighting for the bathroom (and no one coming into the use the loo when you’re relaxing in the bath!). There was a big screen TV (with English language news channel) and USB charging points as well as regular plug points, ideal if you don’t bring enough adaptors.

In terms of the amenities including in the rooms, these were also plentiful and of high quality too. Like most Japanese hotels there were soft cotton waffle pyjamas (so don’t pack yours, save the space in your luggage) and the hotel has a self-service amenities bar.

You can go and choose whatever you need with the selection available including moisturizing lotion, Moisturizing milk, Face wash, Liquid cleanser, Hair treatment, Cotton pad, Cotton swabs, Hair tie, Hairbrush, Razor, Shaving cream, Body towel, and Shower cap.

In the room are Shampoo, Conditioner, Body soap, Hand soap, Toothbrush, and Washable slippers.

The Facilities At The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel

You walk into the hotel and straight into a huge reception with comfy seats to sink into (just what we needed after a long flight) and the reception staff were friendly and spoke English, which was great for us as it meant the check in process went very smoothly.

We didn’t actually use the restaurants in the hotel but it looked great. Called the Tide Table Shiomi, the restaurant here serves both Western and Japanese dishes with locally sourced ingredients. There are lifts up to the all the room floors, and there’s also a fitness room/gym and a traditional bathhouse.

On the subject of food, Shiomi has lots of local restaurants surrounding the station. So you’ll have plenty of cheap eat options – a couple of the ramen shops were particularly delicious.

The hotel also boasts a full service spa, but as I was travelling with two little boys, I didn’t get the chance to try it. And it’s worth mentioning that the hotel also provides car parking (though most tourists don’t hire cars when visiting Tokyo!) This cost JPY 2,200 per night.

If you’re travelling with younger kids then there is a kids room and a nursing room, but we didn’t need to use either of these. You can also ask for cots or extra beds for toddlers in your room.

What we did use A LOT was the on site convenience store. On our way up to our room every night, we would let our kids pick a new weird and wonderful Japanese snack food , then we’d have a bed picnic before we went to sleep!

There’s also free wifi in the hotel, which was a godsend for planning where we wanted to go, and what we wanted to do, next. Finally, there are vending machines, ideal for if you’re thirsty in the middle of the night!

The Prices At The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel

Sadly, the popularity of this hotel means that it’s out of our budget for our next trip. Because its equidistant between Tokyo Station and the Disneyland Parks, it appeals to travelers that want to visit both locations as part of their Tokyo stay.

If you’re staying at the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince then I HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of the proximity to visit Tokyo Disneyland. You can read my Tokyo Disneyland tips for 2025 here.

Booking via Expedia, a week-long stay for 2 adults and 2 children from April 6th- April 13th next year would cost 57,490 yen per night. That’s £291 per night or £2,037 for a week-long stay.

FAQS

Is Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel A Good Location?

Yes! The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel is in an excellent location. It’s located a stone’s throw from Shiomi Station on the Keiyō Line (JE line). In fact, it’s so close to the station that you can see it from the windows on the left-hand side of the building. (photo below)

You’re just 7 minutes (and two stops) away from Tokyo Station, which is a great gateway to the rest of Tokyo. And if you plan to visit Tokyo Disneyland, then you’re just 9 minutes away from Maihama Station, which is the gateway to the Disney resort.

Is Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel A Good Place To Stay?

This is by far the best hotel we’ve stayed in during our visits to Japan. It’s in a great location, the room sizes are good, it offers excellent amenities, and it has a fun and stylish vibe too.

If you’re visiting Tokyo with kids and looking for a hotel that will meet all of their needs whilst still being an amazing spot for adults to relax and unwind (thank you onsen bath!) then this is a great choice.

Can You Leave Luggage At The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel?

Yes! Our flight arrived early and left late. But there was a secure luggage room, and the staff were happy to keep our luggage for us (suitcases, holdalls and backpacks) so that we didn’t waste a minute and could get straight out and explore. This seems to be common practice across the city (though some storage facilities are more secure than others).

Does the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel have good reviews?

Yes! In addition to this review (I would consider this a great review) we found that almost all of the reviews we read of the hotel were good, praising its location, quality, and comfortable spacious rooms.

Comparing Toyko Hotels

We’ve stayed in a few different hotels in Tokyo, so I thought it would help to put together a handy table comparing some of the most popular, and frequently compared to each other. Of these four, we’ve stayed at the Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel (obviously!) and the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay (you can read the review here) with the Hilton Tokyo Bay next on our must-try list:

We won’t be staying in the Shiomi Prince Tokyo Bay Hotel when we visit Tokyo in April (If I’m being honest, the budget just didn’t stretch because we’re taking a much longer stay this time, and needed somewhere we could stay in the city for 2 weeks). But we do wish we were: it’s a very special place, and as the first hotel we ever stayed in in Tokyo, it has a special place in our heart.

If it’s in your budget and you’re planning to visit the Tokyo Disneyland Parks as well as explore the city, then this is an incredible choice.
