TokyoTreat Box Review – A Taste of Japan at Home!
Should You Try A Tokyo Treat Box? Tokyo Treat Box review packed full of goodies my kids couldn’t get enough of!
If there’s one thing our family can’t eat enough of when we visit Japan, it’s the snacks! The first thing we do when we land in Tokyo is head straight to the nearest konbini and get a sugar fix. From matcha flavoured KitKats to sweet and gooey mochi, salty crisps and sweets shaped like the boys favourite cartoon characters (yup, I do mean Pokemon). Going to the konbini isn’t just a mission to grab a snack, it’s a cultural experience in its own right.

So when the lovely team at TokyoTreat reached out and offered to send us one of their snack boxes to try at home, we couldn’t wait to see what was inside. Here’s our complete Tokyo Treat Box review, complete with an unboxing and tips on how to order too.
This box was kindly gifted for review but, as always, everything you’ll read here is our honest opinion. We only share things we genuinely love and think would bring a little taste of Japan into your own home too. This post contains affiliate links.

What Is Tokyo Treat?
If you’ve never heard of TokyoTreat then you need to know this is a Japanese snack subscription service. Imagine getting a box of Japan’s most exciting snacks delivered straight to your door every month! You can try new fun flavours, and discover new treats that you would otherwise only find in Japan.

Each Tokyo Treat box is themed around the season or around a special event. We received the Fuji Fall Snackscape box, but some examples of previous boxes include Sakura Spring, Tokyo Halloween and Japanese Summer Festival. That the theme and contents change every month is a huge selling point that makes getting an annual TokyoTreats subscription very appealing: We’ve only just finished eating this box, and I already want to try the next one!
As i’ve said, the contents of each box are different, but you’re guaranteed to receive between 15-20 full-sized snacks, treats, sweets, or limited-edition soda drinks.
One of my favourite things about receiving our TokyoTreats box was how beautifully everything was presented. The box in itself looks great, and it includes a colourful booklet that explains every snack, shares fun facts and Japanese pop culture references, and even has themed trivia inside. I liked this so much, because it means it isn’t just a box full of treats – it is a slice of Japan landing through your letterbox every month!
🧁 You can order your own Tokyo Treats box here.

I think the combo of the treats and the booklet is what makes TokyoTreats a really special experience for the whole family. While the boys pushed the booklet to one side to get straight to the sweets, I really enjoyed reading the booklet and finding out a little more about fall in Japan.
There are so many people these boxes would appeal to. Whether you’re planning a trip to Japan and want to try out the Japanese snacks, or you’re an experienced Japan visitor who’s missing their konbini runs (I feel you there!) then TokyoTreats is a fun way to get a slice of Japan at home.

Unboxing The Tokyo Treat Box: Our First Impressions
My first impressions of the TokyoTreat Box were great: the vibrant orange box covered in fun Japanese iconography landed on our doorstep as is (it wasn’t covered in any other packaging) so we knew what it was straight away, and we couldn’t wait to open it!
When we opened the box, the treats were covered with the information booklet and a cute postcard of Mount Fuji (which I thought was a nice touch, and which is now stuck on our fridge!), which only built up the suspense for the kids, who genuinely couldn’t wait to get inside: these boys are sweets monsters, especially Japanese sweets.

I took the time to sit and read the booklet, the kids….did not. They very quickly laid out all the treats and started deciding which looks best, and which they wanted to try first. So our first impressions of the box were great: it’s stylish, highly curated, and well put together. If aesthetics are important to you, this treat box is a win!

Our Favourite Snacks
The Fuji Fall Snackscape Tokyo Treats box came with melon flavoured Hi-Chews (my personal favourite), Crunky strawberry white chocolate, Puku Puku sweet potato taiyaki, Salt and butter sweet potato chips, Yuzu Shio ramen, a Mount Fuji shaped cookie sandwich, chewy ramone soda sweets (the boys favourite), Mike soy and butter popcorn, Mandarin flavoured chew sweets, a ring donut (the boys were so excited about this because it looked just like the ones they love from SevenEleven) and several other treats.

Some of the treats were familiar to us, and some were brand new. What was funny is how excited the boys were to see the snacks they knew, and had tried when we were in the konbini in Japan.
My favourite snack from this particular box was the creamy, buttery Mount Fuji shaped cookie: If I have any criticism, it was that there was only one of these little cookies, and I could have eaten a dozen!
I asked the boys about their favourite snacks and the youngest chose the soy flavoured popcorn, while the oldest loved the chewy ramone sweets (ramone soda is his favourite thing in the world!)

Value For Money: Is It Worth It?
The big question with any of these subscription boxes is this: How much does the TokyoTreat box cost? The price varies, as the longer you subscribe the cheaper the boxes will be.
The best value is the 12 month plan: if you sign up for 12 months then each box will cost $32.50 each. It’s $33.50 per box if you opt for the 6 month plan, $35.50 if you sign up for 3 months or you can buy one month at a time (with no obligation to buy more if you just want a single box) for $37.50 per box.
Although the prices are in USD, the boxes are shipped from Japan and can be sent anywhere in the world (we’re based in the UK and it arrived within 3 days of ordering!)

The Tokyo Treats box is a bit of a splurge, and it would be cheaper to buy the goodies in Japan: but then you’d have to take into account the thousands spent on flights!
Buying the Tokyo Treats box is cheaper than buying the individual Japanese treats from our local Asian supermarket (one of the boys favourite places to go for a sugar fix). It’s definitely something we would order for them again, especially for special occasions like Christmas and birthdays – I think the TokyoTreat box would make a great gift for Japan lovers, sugar lovers, or anything that wants to try something a little different.

Final Thoughts and Further Reading
Sadly, all of our treats have long gone now: The boys took delight in choosing a new snack from the box when they got home from school every day last week. But we LOVED having this snack box in the kitchen, and I would definitely recommend it to other lovers of all things Japan!
