Top Tips For Visiting Disneyland Paris At Halloween

Planning to visit Disneyland Paris at Halloween? This is a time when the Disneyland Paris resort really comes to life.

Our first ever trip to Disneyland Paris was at Halloween, when our 12-year-old was just 10 months old, so I have a real soft spot for Disneyland Paris at this time of year.

But I also know that visiting Disneyland Paris at Halloween is even busier than visiting Disneyland Paris in the summer holidays or even at Christmas! Certainly, the busiest visits to Disneyland Paris we’ve ever had have been Halloween visits. I remember getting caught in a stampede to see Maleficent one year, which meant as we were trying to leave the area (and get out of the crowd) our youngest was knocked out of his buggy!

What this means is that you’ll need to plan your Disneyland Paris Halloween visit strategically.

That’s where this post comes in! Here are our top, tried-and-tested tips for exploring Disney Paris at Halloween to ensure you have the most magical Disney days:

Check The Halloween Season Dates

Halloween may be on the 31st October but the Disneyland Paris Halloween dates cover a much longer period! This means that you can visit Disneyland Paris for the Halloween season at the beginning of October, when the park will be a little quieter.

This year’s Disneyland Paris Disney Halloween Festival will take place from 1st October to 2nd November 2025. That’s slightly shorter than in previous years, when the Halloween season has launched at the end of September but still gives plenty of travel dates to choose.

The entry to Disneyland Paris at Halloween

The weekdays get much busier than the weekends, so book to visit mid-week if you can. If you don’t mind crowds then visiting for Halloween is an incredible experience, but if you’d prefer the park a little quieter then heading out mid-week, and earlier in the month would be my recommendation. If you’re kids aren’t yet school aged then avoiding half term is another good way to avoid the crowds.

Book Your Park Tickets Early

It’s not just anecdotal evidence: official figures also show that Halloween is consistently the busiest time of year at Disneyland Paris. This means that there are often days when the park is at full capacity. Book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you’re planning a Disney holiday over several days then the best way to book this is directly with Disneyland Paris via their website. But these packages tend to be a little too expensive for our family!

If you’re staying off site and just want tickets for a day or two then we always book via Klook. These are great value, and delivered instantly, straight to your phone!

Don’t Miss the Halloween Parade

There is a special Halloween season parade, and you definitely shouldn’t miss it! Officially called Mickey’s Halloween Celebration, this parade sees the Mischief Makers gleefully glide along Parade Road in Disneyland Park, with upbeat music before stopping for some body popping in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

I love the Disney Parades, and there’s nothing quite like watching your favourite characters passing by you on floats with that iconic castle in the background. It’s worth noting that this is a cavalcade and not a fully-fledged parade–meaning it has fewer floats and performers, but it also means that the regular afternoon parade will still be taking place every day.

💡TOP TIP – Make sure that you get a spot for the parade at least half an hour before it starts if you want to be on the front row and have the best view.

One of the things Disneyland Paris does really well is decorate for each season, and you’ll find colourful pumpkins, wickedly-fun decorations and the most adorable ghosts in the Disneyland Park. You won’t find any Halloween attractions in the Disney Studios park, so that’s something to think about when you plan your day.

Plan For Character Meets and Greets

We can be pretty nerdy about seeing the Disney Characters, and the boys love seeing both the regular characters in their Halloween costumes as well as the rare characters that Disney bring out for special occasions like Halloween. Now I’m not going to lie, Character queues can be long! But we think they’re well worth it, and we love the interaction.

Meeting the Queen of Hearts in Disneyland Paris

For Halloween, the main attraction in terms of unusual meets and greets tend to be the baddies. Malificent, Cruella deVille and Captain Hook all come out to play! And if you head over the the Haunted Mansion (the most halloweeny of all the Disneyland Paris rides) then Jack Skeleton and Sally will be there meeting guests.

If you only ride one ride at Disneyland Paris in Halloween then it really should be the Haunted Mansion by the way – it’s one of my favourite rides in the park at any time of the year, but especially at Halloween.

For the main characters there is a new character meet and greet system in place in Disneyland Paris. You can read all about it here.

Dress For The Occasion

We LOVE dressing up when we visit Disneyland Paris – it’s all part of the immersive fun of the experience for us. Ears of our favourite characters, matching Mickey Mouse t-shirts, we’ve got it all!

But only visitors aged under 12 years old can wear full costumes in Disneyland Paris. If you’re over 12 then you can’t dress up in a full character costume. Children over 12 and adults are also exempt from wearing masks in the park.

The only EXCEPTION to this is on 31st October (Halloween night) which is the only day of the year adults can wear costumes in the Disneyland Paris parks.

Over the years, my boys have dressed up as Donald Duck, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Buzz Lightyear, and more than one Stormtrooper. The fuss they get from the characters when they’re dressed up is so special: one of my favourite memories is my youngest meeting Captain Hook while dressed as Captain Hook.

💡TOP TIP – Buy your costumes in advance to save some cash! They’re significantly cheaper from Amazon or your local supermarket than they are in the Disney Parks.

You can read my other tips for visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget here.

For adults, older kids, or younger kids that aren’t costume fans, consider ‘Disney Bounding’ (This is wearing colour-coordinated outfits to imply your favourite characters) or look for Halloween themed t shirts, ears, and other accessories.

My husband has this Mickey Mouse Trick or Treat t shirt (which is unisex and which I love!) that is perfect for Halloween at Disneyland Paris. And I’ve just splurged on these Loungefly Halloween ears for our upcoming Halloween Disneyland Paris trip.

I will say that if you’re travelling on a budget or just don’t want to buy clothes you don’t need, then you DO NOT NEED to dress up for Disneyland Paris. You’ll have just as much fun in a regular t-shirt as you will in a Mickey Mouse t-shirt. But because these are photos I tend to frame and treasure forever, I like the boys to look their best.

Make Dining Reservations Early

I’ve already mentioned that Disneyland Paris is BUSY at Halloween. So if you’re going to want to do any ala carte restaurants (and especially if you’re going to want Character dining) then I strongly recommend you make reservations early.

Character dining at Plaza Gardens in Disneyland Paris

There are four restaurants offering character dining in Disneyland Paris. These are Plaza Gardens Restaurant, Auberge de Cendrillon, Royal Banquet and La Table de Lumiere.

We’ve only ever done the princess dining experience at Auberge de Cendrillon once (because I wanted to do it, the boys aren’t really into princesses) and getting that reservation was very hard work!

The best character dining we have ever experienced at Disneyland Paris was the character breakfast at Plaza Gardens: it’s also the most affordable character dining you can do in Disneyland Paris. We book this for every Disneyland Paris trip we take! You can read my full review of all the characters we met at the Plaza Gardens character breakfast here.

💡 TOP TIP – There are two time slots for breakfast at Plaza Gardens. These are 8.15am and 9.45am. Book the earlier slot and you can enter the park early, meaning you get those magical castle photos without anyone in the background on your way in!

Is There A Disneyland Paris Halloween Party?

Not many people know about the Disneyland Paris Halloween Party. It’s not quite as well-known as the ‘Not so Scary Halloween Party’ in Orlando, and it was last hosted in the park in 2023. At the time of writing there are no plans for there to be a hard ticketed Halloween party in 2025 either.

Riding the Dumbo Elephants in Disneyland Paris

In the spirit of full disclosure, we’ve actually never been to it! So I can’t tell you what it’s like! But the good news is that to make up for the lack of Disneyland Paris Halloween Party, the park will offer extended hours on 31st October. It’s expected that the park will stay open until 2am, cast members will be handing out M&M candies, and (as I mentioned above) adult guests will be allowed to wear costumes too.

Disneyland Paris Ride Closures For Halloween 2025

Throughout the year, Disneyland Paris closes different rides at intervals. This is important for essential maintenance, and as a general rule means that if you visit Disneyland Paris more than once, you’ll see that different rides are closed, giving you a different experience every time.

The Disneyland Paris ride closures for Halloween 2025 are:

  • Mad Hatter Teacups: 22nd September to 3rd October 2025
  • Indiana Jones: 22nd September to 3rd October 2025
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast: closed from 23rd June until the end of 2025
  • Thunder Mesa Riverboat: 6th of January to October 3rd (Molly Brown)
  • Taniere du Dragon: 6th to 10th October 2025
  • Aladdin Flying Carpets: 6th to 10th October 2025
  • Ratatouille: 13th October to unknown
