On our last two trips to Tokyo, we have chosen to stay in Tokyo Bay.
We like Tokyo Bay for two main reasons: Firstly it’s close to the Tokyo Disneyland Resorts (and our kids love to visit the Tokyo Disney Resorts when we’re in the city) but it’s also on the JE line which provides quick access into the city and Tokyo Station.

Secondly, it tends to be cheaper than staying in the heart of the city, especially if you need one room with enough space for four people (two adults and two kids), you want to be able to open your suitcase, and you don’t want to be sleeping on top of each other!
But what are the best hotels in Tokyo Bay? Where should you stay in Tokyo Bay with kids? I’ve put together a list of five hotels based on both our personal experience AND the extensive research that we’ve done in the past as well as for our next trip to Tokyo.
We’ve stayed in two of these hotels and loved them. The others come highly recommended and are on our wish list for future visits! Here’s what you need to know:
- Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel (Tried and Tested)
- The Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay (Tried and Tested)
- Hilton Tokyo Bay (Wish List)
- Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel (Wish List)

Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel (Tried and Tested)
The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel is located a stone’s throw away from Shiomi Station. In terms of location, I think this is the best hotel on the list

Youāre just 7 minutes (and two stops) away from Tokyo Station, which is a great gateway to the rest of Tokyo. And if you plan to visit Tokyo Disneyland, then youāre just 9 minutes away from Maihama Station, which is the gateway to the Disney resort. Which means its a great spot for visiting Disney AND exploring the city.
Why It’s Great For Families
The Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince hotel is a very stylish, fashionable hotel. It looks and feels luxe, but modern at the same time. Despite this, children were more than welcome. The rooms are a good size (by Tokyo standards) and we opted for a room with four large and comfy beds so everyone had their own space. If you need a cot then these are available on request.
The room also boasted a large wardrobe (which was a godsend for all our luggage) and the bathroom, toilet, and open vanity area were all separate. This was great as it meant no fighting for the bathroom if someone was using the toilet! The vanity had a great ring light that was great for doing my make up!

There was a Family Mart on site, which was great for grabbing child-friendly snacks before heading back to our room each night. There was a big screen TV (with English language news channel) and USB charging points as well as regular plug points for the boys to charge their devices.
This isn’t a natural fit to be called a family friendly hotel perhaps (no play areas or toys) but it was great for our family, and would come highly recommended.
Room Options and Amenities
We opted for a large family room, but there are also rooms available with double beds or twin beds if that’s you’re preference. As i’ve already mentioned, each room comes with a western-style bathroom with a full-sized bath tub.
The rooms also come with free wifi, a kettle, mini fridge, and a smart TV.

In the hotel you’ll find an on-site restaurant that offers a buffet breakfast (i’m afraid I can’t comment on this as we didn’t try it!) but it looked and smelt excellent when we walked past. Other things on site that we didn’t use were the laundry facilities and the vending machines.
Finally it’s worth noting that this hotel has a lovely on site onsen bath. Perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day or walking. These are separated by gender – even better for me as it meant I could relax without the boys in the way!
Our Experience And Booking
This was the first hotel we ever stayed in, not only in Tokyo but, in Japan. What we loved most about it was its convenient location and the size of the rooms. Everything felt luxe and comfortable. The staff were friendly, and after long days in a bustling and slightly overwhelming city, the chilled out vibe was a welcome break too.

The Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay (Tried and Tested)
The Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay is a four-star hotel that was totally affordable but packed full of amenities. And we LOVED calling this place home for two weeks when we were in Japan last month.

Itās a hotel thatās really designed with kids and families in mind. In fact the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay is the most family-friendly hotel in Japan weāve visited so far. From making their own (free) candy floss in the welcome lounge to choosing their own (also free!) child-friendly amenities in the Tiroir, it really felt like the boys werenāt an unwelcome addition but the actual stars of the show.
This hotel is located on the JE line just one metro stop away from Miahama (the Disney resort stop) but it also offers a free direct shuttle bus straight to the Disney parks.
Why It’s Great For Families
Some of the best family-friendly features of this hotel include the huge interactive play wall in reception (our kids played here while we checked in), that you can borrow toys, books and other child-friendly activities, and of course the free snacks every day!

Room Options and Amenities
We opted for a standard family room which had a double bed and two single beds (one of these was a fold out bed but it was still very comfortable). Bigger rooms are available in this hotel for larger families. Cots are available on request.
The room had a bathroom, vanity and toilet which were all separate (great for families), a mini fridge and kettle, smart TV, and a wardrobe for hanging all our clothes.
In the hotel there were so many great amenities. A Family Mart (great for snacks and drinks) laundry room, 3 restaurants, even a bakery. The Tiroir was a free amenities facility where you could choose your own toiltires and other essentials: you could get child-sized pyjamas here as well as nappies and even cutlery and plates for eating in your room. We loved this because we love a hotel picnic!
Plus the shutttle bus to and from Disney was free, regular, and rarely too crowded.

Our Experience and Booking
We were amazed at just how child-friendly this hotel was, was still having a calm and high-end feel. This is a great choice if you don’t want to break the bank but you still want great amenities and proximity to the Tokyo Disney parks. We used the free shuttle bus regularly, and this was so wonderfully convenient! I would strongly recommend this hotel to families

Hilton Tokyo Bay (Wish List)
The Hilton Tokyo Bay is one of the pricier hotels in the area, but from all the research I’ve done, it looks worth every penny. This hotel is at the top of our wish list for our next visit to Tokyo bay!
The Hilton Tokyo Bay is located on the eastern edge of the Tokyo Disneyland Resort and it’s an official partner hotel. You can get to the Disneyland Resort from the hotel via the Disney Resort Line monorail.

In the hotel you’ll enjoy incredible views over Tokyo Bay, if you visit during the summer this hotel has an incredible outdoor pool complex, and it is in the perfect position if you want to spend some time in Tokyo Disneyland: that should be the focus of your visit if you stay in this hotel.
Why It’s Great For Families
Like the Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay, this hotel was also designed with families in mind. You’ll find lovely themed rooms here if you don’t mind spending a bit more than the standard family rooms) and the list of family-focused amenities seems endless.
As well as the huge pool that I mentioned above (something that’s much coveted and pretty rare in a Tokyo hotel) you’ll also find beautiful gardens, play areas, and a shop on site selling Disney character merchandise.
Room Options and Amenities
There are a choice of different family room configurations with rooms that can sleep up to 6 people, so ideal for larger families.

The hotel also boasts an on-site gym, spa, indoor pool, and babysitting services (if you want a date night away from the kids). Other in-room amenities worth knowing about include free wifi, air conditioning, kettle and mini fridge.
The rooms look light, airy, and modern. These are the perfect-looking family rooms. But with so much to see and do here, you probably won’t stay in your room for long!
The hotel has a convenience store and bakery in its lobby, and several restaurants so you’ll find a menu to suit your family. From buffets for fussy eaters to elegant Japanese fine dining, everything is covered!
Why We Recommend It And Booking
We chose to include the Hilton Tokyo Bay on this list because it’s been on our wish list for years. This is the non-disney hotel that everyone recommends staying in if you’re planning to visit the Tokyo Disney parks. But that proximity, the HUGE number of amenities, and the luxury of this hotel come at a price – this is one of the more expensive on this list.

Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel (Wish List)
The Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel is a waterfront hotel with 2 restaurants and a 24-hour front desk. It’s not as well-known as some of the other hotels on this list, but it does have an excellent reputation and great reviews. And it’s a great, affordable option for this part of Tokyo too.
But the best bit? This hotel is only a 3 minute walk to the tokyo Disneyland resort! Location, location, location!

Why It’s Great For Families
Aside from its great location, the hotel offers light and airy rooms and a great resort-type feel. And some of the rooms and hotels have an epic view of the bay too.
Kids will love the kid friendly toiletries and child-sized pjs and slippers in the rooms. And this hotel also offers a shuttle bus straight to the Disney parks if you don’t want to walk!
Room Options and Amenities
The rooms here are spacious and many are designed with families in mind. You can sleep 3-4 guests comfortably in their family rooms and there are a few room configurations to choose from too.

The hotel offers a 24/7 reception, restaurants (although I’ve read that these can be pricey in the evenings), free wifi, laundry facilities, and parking. If you want to start your day right, you could have a buffet breakfast before you go to the park. Daily buffet breakfast is available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and costs JPY 2,900 for adults and JPY 2,000 for children
Why We Recommend It and Booking
This is a great hotel if you don’t want to break the bank but you want to be as close as possible to the Disney parks. We didn’t stay here because the access into Tokyo isn’t quite as easy as with the other hotels we did stay in, but it’s still a great Disney resort choice!
Though lesser known, this is a popular hotel and reservations book up quickly. If you’re looking for all of the convenience of staying in Maihama (the tokyo disney resort is a 3 minute walk away!) without breaking the bank then this is a great hotel to choose.

Picking the Right Hotel For You
Like all aspects of planning a holiday, picking the right hotel for you is totally subjective. You might favour the convenience of being right next to the Disney Parks, or you might want to be able to get into Tokyo quickly. Some travellers want bunk beds for their kids while others would prefer to put their kids in a large double instead!
To help you pick the right Tokyo Bay hotel for your family, I’ve put together this handy comparison table:
| Hotel | Location | Best For…. | Type | How to Book |
| The Shiomi Prince Hotel | 2 minute walk from Shiomi Station | Stylish, great location, good value | Tried and tested | Check availability and book here |
| Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay | Attached to Shin-Urayasu Station | Disney partner hotel, very family focused, children’s amenities | Tried and tested | Check availability and book here |
| Hilton Tokyo Bay | On the Disneyland Resort monorail | High-end, excellent pool, close to Disney | On the wishlist | Disney partner hotel, very family-focused, children’s amenities |
| Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel | In Maihama | Affordable, good location | On the wishlist | Check availability and book here |
A Note on Disney Partner Hotels
Some of the hotels listed above are official Disney partner hotels. But please note! Just because you’re staying in a Disney Partner hotel doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed entry to the parks: if it’s a busy day and tickets are already sold out, they’re sold out.

For this reason, I recommend buying tickets to Tokyo Disneyland BEFORE you arrive at the park and definitely before you arrive in Tokyo. You donāt want to book a stay in a Disneyland Partner hotel then not be able to get into the parks.
We always book our tickets via Klook, as the Tokyo Disneyland website often doesnāt accept overseas credit cards as payment. And its easy and convenient, with your tickets being emailed to you instantly. Youāll get a QR code that you can scan into the Tokyo Disney resort app, and youāre ready to hit the parks!
Ā šClick here to book Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo Disneysea tickets via Klook.
Ā āUse the code THATMUMTRAVEL5KLOOK to get 5% off your ticket prices, helping to save some money too!
I would also recommend visiting both of the two Disney parks if possible. I know not everyone has the time to visit both parks (and there’s a lot of Japan to see!) but because these two parks are so different, and Tokyo Disney Sea is so unique, it’s really worth spending one day in each park if you can.
Have you visited any of these hotels? or do you have any other recommendations for the best hotel in Tokyo bay? I’m always looking for new tips and new inspiration, so i’d love to hear your thoughts!
